[/color]We have a 2009 Honda CRV that recently quit blowing cold air .I'm looking for an easy solution. From my limited knowledge that usually indicates the system needs to be charged and looking for feedback pro/con on these D.I.Y.kits, like A/C Pro Refrigerant . I do have a back up plan that involves a professional ,should it come to that.
[color:#33CC00]TFF OT always has opinions, let me have ittook the car in to a reputable repair shop, diagnosis was Compressor, dryer, orfice tube/expansion valve needs to be replaced, need to evacuate and recharge system parts and labor including tax $1263.50

Temporary 'cheap' ac fixes are most oftentimes a waste of money, as you're not addressing the root of cause of the problem. Save your money to pay the pro to fix it right and for good!

Just like a home system, a car system sometimes leaks a little and needs a charge up. I have used the AC/Pro on my truck, 2000 GMC Jimmy, and my Wife's 2001 Ford Escape. It did a good job both times. Worth the $40.00 at Auto Zone to try it because you can't get a auto AC guy to open the hood for that little.

Worked great, easy to do, and still cooling fine.

Check to see if the clutch is engaging. Look under the hood and find the belt. Have someone sit in the drivers seat and turn the AC on and off, on and off, etc. One of the pulleys should move in and out slightly and you'll here a click when it engages. If it's not moving then it's most likely the compressor relay is bad. $15 part an autozone.
If the AC stopped overnight then I'd say this is your best bet. If it's going out over time it's probably refrigerant.

I have a 2007 Civic that is getting its compressor replaced today. That generation of Hondas is known for AC issues and I had the same issue as you. They tried a few things, but ultimately, it was the compressor.

Check your fuse box. I think it was my old Murano that had separate fuses for the blower and the compressor. The blower fuse was in the main fuse box in the cabin. But the compressor fuse was under the hood next to the compressor relay.
Adding refrigerant is only a temporary fix. If you have to add, then it is leaking from somewhere. If there is a leak, then adding just kicks the can for a matter of days or weeks.

I've used it before on an older truck that I had. It would make it through the summer and into the fall until it was no longer needed. I bought a new truck so don't know how long it actually lasted.
you know, nothing wrong with seven men who met on the internet going for a swim together

My last truck needed a can every spring and would make it all summer just fine. The thirty dollar repair was a lot cheaper than the $1200 I was quoted by a shop.

AC is sealed system. You got a Freon leak or other issues as described above.

I would try the DIY to see if it would help and buy you some time to save for a repair if needed.
There is a sensor in the ac unit that shuts down the compressor if the Freon does get too low so it just might need a small can to keep it going.

you can ruin your system by adding a little to much or not enough. You need to correct tools and gauges. The little 10 can at vatozone can cost you hundreds more. The ac system is to easy to screw up . Take to some one that knows what they are doing.
