Somebody used to make one that looked a little bit like a saddle with a high back, it wasn't very wide so you straddled it and it gave some back support. Had one on an older boat and wish I hadn't let it go.

I like that one. Right now I can sit on mine but no back support so I swap it out with the back seat later in the day but it obstructed the view while driving so have to remove it Everytime I run somewhere. I usually just take more breaks behind the wheel to just rest my back.

Years ago I started using a back support belt for nagging back pain while fishing.. especially while digging big cranks or just hard after it all day... I will pull it off and put it aside sometimes but usually end up wearing it all day without even knowing it's there. I've turned many friends onto this over the years with unanimous positive results... the Copper Fit back support belt for $20 at Walmart is great value and I've also got one of the Valeo weight lifting belts with velcro closure... it also helps on rough boat rides.. don't wait until your back starts hurting at 11 to put it on ... put it on first thing in the morning... try it you'll like it.

If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life,
there'd be a shortage of fishing poles

That looks like something that would be worth a shot.

The best thing you can do for your back is wear a pair of shoes with good support and cushioning. That will help alot, but if you still face pain after an hour or two of casting, get one of those wrap around lower back wraps.
