FYI that elk is free range west Texas, the white tails came from your beloved Midwest region of Kansas that you say has no high fences. The Nilgai is king ranch, no HF there.

I guess Texas doesn't have the best places to fish if MLF is the indicator- Aaron Martens caught almost as many pounds of fish in one day on MLF in Minnesota as 2 days total on lake Nacogdoches. Nowhere MLF has fished produced like Grand Rapids, Minnesota for totals pounds caught and it was not just the top man - several caught a lot of pounds in one day Fine with me if they go back. Won't catch me there, 2 reasons. Too dam cold and this dude is there, . I'm with Him.. (in Bill Dance's voice) 1st thing I thought of when the word Minnesota came up..good one GIG'EM . ***Sorry Tournament Anglers I usually don't mess with Unders*** And they had a dam wrestler for governor. And if all that ain't enough they have the largest population of Somali's in the U.S. They can keep their smallies and all the rest, I'll stay in Texas where the big bass live and the lakes don't freeze over. At great personal risk, I would like to point out that hunting whitetails over a 100 acres of corn is vastly different than hunting them at a lone feeder in a hundred acres of tumbleweed. Not that I have a problem with the latter. They are however, entirely different achievements. Particularly with a bow.

I have two different private properties I can hunt in SD each with over a mile of river bottom and I dont bother with it. Maybe as I get older things will change.

I believe I have a right to speak to this subject because I have been skunked in most of the top 10 bass fishing states. Right this minute I wouldn't trade MN for Texas, it's about 75 and partly cloudy, mild ripple on the water in Gopherland now. I also like that there are 20-30 good bass lakes within 1 hour from my house here in MN. I love the way a lot of the Texans are sure to defend their own state. Fishing is good both states. MN gets the fishing pressure too, come on, where do tourists like to go fishing in the summer? Revenues from fishing are really huge in both states and comparable. see http://asafishing.org/uploads/2011_ASASportfishing_in_America_Report_January_2013.pdfI'm with the guy who said he'd like to be north in the summer and south winter-spring

If you like catching one pound fish all day. How many 5-10 pound fish have MN lakes produced versus TX lakes? I rest my case. It took a 5 pound average to win the BASS event up there last season. I doubt you have ever caught a 5 pound smallie in tx. Plus the chance to target 50" musky and no crackheads to steal your gear at the ramp, sounds like heaven to me. I have personally caught 5 lb s allies in Texas. And I have a lot of friends that live in Minnesota and there are a ton of crackheads up there. They cook the fire out of it. As far a musky, I have beeen several times and caught 5 total. They are the fish of 10,000 casts so I am out. I can go catch a big gar and get the same thrill.
Retirement best job ever.
