Ain't that the truth!

I went out today and used my 10 footer I've had for several years. Just thought I'd give it a try just for something different. I bought it back when my grand daughters were still small and just can't sell it.
Anyway, I remembered why I hate fishing out of anything under 12'. There is not room once loaded down with everything I need, like a net, and small cooler plus all my rods and reels and anchor, bait, you get the picture.
Just no room to move around with getting my feet wet over the side.
I stay dry in my regular kayak and plenty of room for me and the gear.
Ten footers are easy to get around in tight places or if you have to cover more ground to get to your fishing hole, but for me, I'll stick to my 12 and 14 footers.
I've known of a couple of people who went out and bought what they call a "starter" kayak and most of the time they are 10 footers and they would be totally turned off by the experience.
It's best to buy what fits your needs, and it's even better to test as many kayaks as you possibly can to find one that works for you.

K1 (Kayak instruction) in Rowlett is a great idea besides renting and lessons they also sell yak's. Talk to Dave, he's the owner and he can set you up with both Kayak and Paddle. WE just bought 2 new kayaks for under $1000, a tandem and a fishing, both are freaking sweet yaks, I'm in the process of customizing my fishing yak, although Dave has pretty much thought of everything already!!!

I HIGHLY recommend going to see Dave, bonus is he has set up the business so that most of the proceeds go to the kids working there for their own college fund!

There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot.
