Have some graded coins listed on craigslist. Potential buyer called & spoke with me about buying them, but she's in Katy, TX about 4.5 hrs away. She is asking if I would be willing to ship with UPS and have the parcel be collected COD at the destination.
I'm thinking through the ways that someone could scam a seller this way - the obvious one is that the buyer gives UPS a personal check that subsequently bounces.
What say the OT?

My thoughts on scammers are, if you got to ask, they probably are.

I vote no. FTF only, pack heat. Oh, I do a fair number of deals via Paypal & ship with tracking and insurance. Have never had one of those deals go badly. My question was more about how a buyer could rip off a seller through COD shipping?

Nope. Money up front, always.

What say the OT? Not no but heck no. Scam all the way. If she can afford to live in Katy, she can afford to pay up front.

Any way you think you could talk her into paying via PayPal?

Any way you think you could talk her into paying via PayPal? That's what I intend to do - she asked for some clearer photos, so when I text the photos to her, will let her know that we either need to do Paypal or no deal. Come to think of it, I've even had buyers mail me a check/money order and allow me the time for it to clear before I shipped. Most people are basically honest, which I suppose is the reason that scammers are able to thrive.

Send her fake coins until you get the money. Then tell her you made a mistake and ship her the real ones later.
