I went to Irwin bridge this weekend. The Yegua is back to normal and clearing up slowly. I caught 2 small bass and about a dozen bluegill. This heat has made the after noon fishing pretty slow in the creeks. I haven't been on the lake in the last week nor heard any reports.

I went to Welch park yesterday, caught 2 gars and a small bass. Released them all. But when I cast netted for shad, I got a lot of white bass babies and I saw some wiper babies. Does anybody know did they release any new wipers to lake somerville? It was so interesting to see those in my cast net, sorry I didn't get a chance to take a picture

I went out to the dam this evening and saw white bass surfacing on the lake. I walked down and there was a guy fishing out there but he said they were too small and he couldn't catch them. So I started by throwing my normal clousers and marabou jigs and I had the same problem. I went through multiple clousers, marabou jigs, briminators, and rubber legged dragons and had only caught about 6. Finally, I put on a size 10 chartreuse rubber legged dragon and started catching them on almost every cast until I got bored. I put on a small popper and caught a couple. I finally thought I had caught a keeper but it ended up being a big bluegill. I picked up a couple LMB as well. There were acres of these little guys and they stayed there feeding from around 7 PM to 9 PM. No keepers, but I still had fun for a while.

I maybe droved like 15 times to Somerville from Houston from last year till now to catch whitebass and wipers. Never caught either of them and everytime ending up with catfish and gar. Wiper is my dream fish.

After these rains I would expect the Yegua to be up and muddy. It never fishes well under those conditions. You should launch and fish somewhere else on the main lake.

Wiper is my dream fish. Man, that's just bad luck. I saw some bigger fish surfacing a couple days ago but they were further out. If you have a surf casting rod and popping cork setup you might be able to catch a few. The smaller ones have continued to surface in front of the dam every night. I expect the same is going on in other areas such as Yegua creek park and Rocky creek park.

Lake Somerville was stocked with 60K hybrid fingerling a few months ago! The fish you are holding in the pic looks like a hybrid from the recent stocking! This is very good to see from an avid hybrid angler! If you are seeing acres of them boiling the surface, then the future is looking bright! They haven't stocked them since 2014.

Big D I caught lot of baby hybrids in the cast net while casting for shad. It is a good sign. But I didn't know they stocked recently

No doubt it was a combination of both white bass and hybrids. I was hoping that 2 years of flooding would result in this type of situation. Adding the hybrids into the mix really makes it special. The sun had set and the water was splashing up and down the dam. It was a special experience and a sign of truly great fishing ahead. The shad are healthy. There are a ton of new hatchlings that they were feeding on.
