Now that's a hustle. Look at all the interest they accrued.

Yep, and the legal system will come after you with all guns pulled if you don't pay.

But commit other crimes and the legal system will look the other way

I was told that all child support payments get processed in San Antonio, so that is the delay. Once San Antonio receive it, I believe they have 2 business days to process it (post to ex-wife account).

Ain't that the truth. I wasn't able to pay all of mine for a period right when I got divorced (I got left with ALL the bills, lost my job, declared bankruptcy), but then caught up all at once with a check directly to my ex, big mistake. Those don't count if the AG doesn't see them. So they decided to garnish me more each week to make up for the shortfall (that I'd already paid). Then one day they decided that the extra garnishment wasn't enough, got into my personal checking and savings accounts, saw I had money and froze my accounts. This was the day before I was to close on my house, they froze up my down payment money.

Child Support needs some fair and honest changes. Unless there's a good argument that a 2 year old needs the same amount as a 16 year old, they need to do some graduated support based on age. And then the other rub, if there's not a good argument that EVERY 4 year old girl needs the same amount of support, regardless of the father's income, they need to cap it a lot less than $1,700/month. There's a logical and fair way to do this, but after talking with several reps from the AG's office, it's pretty clear the "culture" there is heavily against the working Dad.

I pay on twins, no where near $500/mo.

Why is it that a draft or purchase can come out in the blink of an eye but takes 3-5 days to get returned? If the system can take it out that fast it can put it back that fast.

Judge Spurlock discussed this in my family law class quite frequently. I may post about this subject when I have several hours to summarize it and am feeling mellow.

Suffice it to say that the child support that an only child gets is far greater than what the child of a 'baby daddy' gets. By 'baby daddy' I mean one of these lovely gentlemen who run around making multiple children with multiple women. That's it's own special kind of unfairness.

Zeek I'd love to hear what your Judge said. The lines between Child Support and Alimony have been blurred. There's no way to hold the CS receiver accountable, but the receivers income (and living expenses) should have a part in the amount of CS as well, IMO. There's no way that their calculations are fair when they take 20% of the father's net income. That's saying that if a couple were together, that 40% of their combined bring home would be needed to support one child? No way, not even close. That 20% is assuming the father is the only income in a family, which may have been that way many decades ago, but for the most part now, both parents work.

Very easy way to keep your new spouses income not be eligible as consideration for child support or being taken back to court for more child support money

Do a prenuptial agreement and your spouses income can't be included or taken into consideration on child support.

Or to move to a country like Philippines were divorce is illegal and so there is no child support.

If a girl gets pregnant, then it up to her and her family to take care of the kid, father has no legal responsibility........

cheers peep

Why isn't the court putting her in jail? Or garnishing wages?
