 Caught a gator on a buzzbait!

Was at the little pond near the Riley Fuzzel launch and this little guy hit my buzzbait! I tried to get the bait out since it had gone through the bottom jaw. When I started to handle him, he started barking and mommy was coming to see me through the lily pads in a hurry! I had to just let him keep the bait.

Holy Cow !! Thats crazy !! I wish we had those guys around here !! I hope that buzzbait works itself out !! Do alot of the ponds have gators around there ??

Is he boots or bags or maybe a belt? LOL I cuaght one years ago down in East Texas at West Lakes Club and that 5' gator towed the boat down the lake! - -AL

I had one about that same size come after my buzzbait last fall at Lake Bistineau, and when i thought i was going to foul hook it, me and my fishing partner said to each other "Now what are going to do if we catch it"?

I have had them snap at my buzzbait too. I once was pitching a jig near a log, or at least I thought it was a log. The log turned out to be a 5 foot gator and snapped down on my jig. Scared the mess out of me. Was not expecting that. I first thought it was a bass hitting it and then realized it was a gator.
Luckily he did not hook himself. Crazy critters.

He'll be popular now with the girl gators coming across the pond making that buzzing sound! Or it could work out good around lunch time when the fish strikes at the bait and all he has to do is open wide and chomp down on his lunch :-)
