TPWD did not put Grass Carp in the lake. The carp are native. The page referenced that says Joe Pool has grass carp is not TPWD and not accurate.

The reason the vegetation died is as previously posted: for several months on three occasions in the past 3 years the lake has been as much as 16 feet high. The grass all died. There are some signs that the grass is making a comeback, but it is taking a lot longer than expected.

The vegetation was solid in many places before the floods: the fishing piers at the state park and at Lynn Creek marina for example. The floods were definitely the culprit.

What information do you have that the page is not accurate? Are you saying that there are no grass carp in Joe Pool, that they are all native carp? How do you explain TWPD having two (one in rod and reel and the other bow fishing categories) grass carp weight records on Joe Pool? If TWPD didn't put them there then who did? Yes, more seems to be gone since the flooding but I never saw much before. I find it amazing that people blame it all on a couple of floods when other lakes had the same flood and didn't get totally wiped out.

You make several good points. Maybe the TPWD stocking records are not accurate.

There was not hardly any grass to speak off b4 the floods. There were 2 big patches when willcox and a buddy of mine did a show out there and caught a 10. I was told that way back when it was full of hydrilla they sprayed it. But that was pre 2010 from what i understand

Floods didnt help it but it was 98% gone b4 that

I saw TPW planting some native grass in one lake recently. Hopefully it will be successful and they will start it at other lakes.
