Is there anyone around the Athens area that can work on an HDS7 Gen 3? I think it may be the transducer, but can't seem to figure it out. I would prefer to take my boat to someone and have them figure it out. Any recommendations would be helpful. Thank you.

I am frustrated with the LACK of information Lowrance puts in the manuals. I just finished reading the HDS 9 Gen 3 manual in order to help an angler with his unit.
Lowrance didn't list a single frequency for their sonar nor the imaging in the manual. No explanation of CHIRP or what it does or how if functions.
No examples of the sonar frequency cones and how each affects the view. No illustration showing the overlap of frequencies.
Who ever is writing their manuals needs to take a look at a Humminbird Helix manual.

I recently had to upgrade from a gen 2 hds8 to a gen 3 hds9. Unit is good but it seems like the screen is darker than what I am used too. Is that normal for these units?

Videos are great for "how to" that involve an install or such. But for technical questions and explanations of frequencies, there is no benefit to have a guy on a video read to a Lowrance owner.

I know that my Gen-2 HDS-9 is not as bright/vibrant as my Gen-2 HDS-8 but I thought the Gen-3 screens were supposed to be better. I like the aspect ratio and resolution on my HDS-8 beter than the 9 but the touch screen on the 9 sure is handy.

Every body says the gen3 is the brightest yet. Press the power button a few times and make sure it's on full brightness.

I have a gen3 7" and 9"; both are plenty bright without turning them up all the way.

If am using an Xi5 with a HDS gen 3 , and navigate to a waypoint, and use the anchor function on the HDS , which gps will the rules the XI5 ?
Is it my imagination or does the xi5 work better off the handheld remote to hold a spot , than off a waypoint on the graph. ?
Third , if it is working off the HDS, will the external gps antenna make it hold closer ?
thanks MO

I have a lowrance spotlight scan and I was wondering how to sell it. It's brand new, it not compatible with the stuff I have. Any help would be appreciated. [img:center]http://[/img]

You won't get much for it, you'd be better off using it for sonar and downscan only. It was the most worthless item lowrance ever made.
