Dang guy's, I gotta draw the line here. I suppose if she's not offended by my Harley's and she can drive my John Deere I'd have to go fishing and think hard about it. LOL!

Are you 3X on your anchor rope?
30FOW= 90' of rope?
Alot of folk have box anchors and aint got the first flippen clue how they actually work the best
The more horizontal they are deployed the better they hold
85% of the time thats the exact problem,Ive done it several times side by side with other boats and equal weights.
Sucks when you tell a man he is short,I get that roflmao
My little 5# holds alot more then I ever expected with a good bottom bite
Two 25# (front/rear)on the big boat(24') in a good 20+ wind holds me plenty most situations
Variances still remain, there is no simple solve all to anything in life
Point is can you adapt when you need to or do you put it on the trailer?

Please advise where I've gone wrong. Thanks, Curtis

I'm not having a holding issue! I have a lifting issue! I want to take your reviews with good faith. You post that you have success with your new design 5# box anchor. I just want to save my back! If I'm to take your "reel review" on good faith info then send me a pic of the 5# box anchor. I'll gladly send you a copy of my 80 ton masters Captains License so you know I can anchor a dingy. Thanks, and sincerest respect meant. Pic please!

Im at 25-30 degree bend on my cleats
My chain is welded direct to the box(2 links) and 2 foot leader, grade 7 X 3/8
My anchor line is knotted every 30 foot out to 100 foot, first 30 foot is knotted at 10 foot marks
If the boys aint getting a bite Ill spool out to max
If that doesnt hold ,Ill re-position to an off angle on position and reset
I dont use Ipilot/Spot lock gizmo's,Im old school with a new boat kinda thing(boat is 17yrs old)
I built two 25# box's near 20yrs ago,they still work when "I" work them
I dunno? maybe Im not that "to old" yet and cant yank a few pounds heavier then a 30 pack to the surface
wink
Might be I made them from Chinese steel?
I dunno . . . . . . . work out or something a few times a week and get a better core strenght built up
35# on a 100 foot of string is well preceding wheelchair bound Im pretty sure huh
(I dont drink beer that comes in 30 packs)

Ok, thanks for explaining. 3/1 ratio on a heavy box anchor with lesser bends on the tines so to increase angle of grab. Good process. Thanks for that. I was thinking I could save some weight, somehow? hammer

Ill throw my 5# out in the yard and spool out 90" of line
Standing near level grade(ground) with it,I doubt you can pull it loose on a good day if your half my young age of 50+.
I know even a stout man wont move my 25# in the same application
I worked trail and error with the best of my 9th grade education till I got the box's to bite harder then some 50# I have seen over the years
Im not special,I fish flat bottom west Texas mudholes mostly, the bottoms are slick and hard to bite
Im 90% YAK floating now so lesser weight is needed for a 85# boat
The learned process still applies, want a box to bite you need to pull it closer to ground level
Im sure there are better ways still Ive yet to see(Im not global)but what I do understand thru working experience Ill share it
If I learn something from it Ill apply it and pass it on

If they were both created equal then there would be no market for the Swedish models. I buy my shoes and boots made in the good ol USA , my guns are made in America and I would never bet my life on a Chinese firearm. my knives are German and US, my watch is Swiss, my sunglasses are Italian, my tools are made in the USA, my truck is made in America, I'm sure certain components are sourced from Asia but that's out of my control. Hopefully Trump can get that changed. I like quality and I'm willing to pay a little extra to get it. I used to buy Chinese but I got tired of it always breaking and having to throw it away. Good luck with those reels but I wouldn't rush to get rid of your Abus if they are stamped Sweden before knowing for sure if the chinas are going to hold up. azn flush_2
