Thanks Gitter for the reply.  Been catching most of them in rivers.  a lot of them are on nest and will not bite if your life depended on it.

Never had the pleasure to catch one, but that will change soon. Buying
some property just SW of Rocksprings. Can you keep them and are they
good to eat like bluegill?

Thanks JEFF BAGWELL for the reply. Rocksprings is in some super beautiful country. Love fishing that area. The area is loaded with nice Rios. Been catching a bunch there this year. Friends of mine are raising them in their aquariums and they do very fine in an aquarium environment. Andrew aka Fitz has a couple in his aquarium and one is going on 4 years. As far as eating them they are good table fare. I personally do not eat Rios but friends of mine who do say they are great. Best time to eat Rios is in the spring and fall. During the summer some of them get a rash on their sides along with wounds they get fighting off other fish during nesting and spawning.  Side Note: Congratulations on your future property ownership. I have property in Brackettville.

I found some nice ones on the Salado. After about seven years of looking it was nice to find some holes that hold them. Been catching em just about every time I fish that area. Going to be targeting other rivers.

Thanks Curtis. Rio fishing on creeks has been fair.  The river Rio bite has been on FIRE!  This has been a good Rio year so far.  The best months are still ahead. Late August,September,and October!

Hey Chuck. How many trophy aize (9 plus inch) Rios do you think you have caught this year? Also how is this years Rio bite compared to past years? Just curious.
