Fayette Guide Recommendation??? I am going to be staying at Oak Thicket over Thanksgiving for several days camping and would love to hire a knowledgeable guide to introduce me to the lake.

Was out 2 weeks ago. Took me half the day to figure them out good, then hammered them in 10 to 15 ft for 2-3 hours on crankbaits before I had to leave.
The fish were very particular about how they wanted it, but when I figured it out it was lights out.

Klinker, there are so many that know this lake, its very easy to learn and everything works. My suggestion is too talk to some of the guys on this forum, u could be an expert before you even get there. And u could possibly find someone to take you out for a day.

I found a lot of fish shallow in the grass. One day was overcast and the next day it was bright and sunny. They were there both days but I had to fish different both days to catch them. I guess that I'm telling you to find some grass.

There is a place on the dam where the water drops off into deep water pretty fast. You can get fish on that slope some times, it is a quick drop off for sure.

The reservoir is wide open to view by anyone...no need for a guide. The boats that are not moving much will quickly tell you the general areas that are currently working and what patterns to use...plenty of room for everyone most any day. Take a pair of binocs if you like, but not really needed. Pretty easy lake to catch numbers.

I agree with the above statement. But if you just want a quick and fun trip, get a guide. Some times it can be difficult to find these fish when the water heats up. Just saying. But during the cooler weather days, just get out and run and gun till you find them.
