Nothing has really changed at Lavon. Fish are in the same places as usual. Pretty easy to find them on most days. Gets a little tougher in the winter to locate them. They mix in with all the other fish and when you get out there, its a solid line of fish 10 ft. thick of every species. Once they get tough, we move over to Hubbard and Lewisville for the dead stick bite, Hybrids and also doing Creek trips for Crappie now. Sand Bass are still going at Lavon weather permitting.

Couple Lewisville Hybrid trips mixed in.

Lavon is still kicking out some Magnum Sized Sand Bass

This years seem to still be white slabs and cohos. Yellow works, but they have been keyed on white.

Hybrids are nice and chunky on Lewisville this year.

Tie on a white jig to your mainline 18-20 inch up to catch two at a time. You can catch 10 at a time, but its dangerous and gets tangled.

Glue the jig to the jig head or hook and it wont keep falling off.

We always give my pet bass a wake up call before we go out.

Back to Back- Black bass to start the day for this little one.

Crappie were not amazing this year, but limitable most days. Next year is going to be greatness for crappie. Of course sandies too, as always.

Limit

Some days we limit before 730 am. Home before the wife gets up someday!

Lavon kicked out a lot of big bass this year.

Cant wait till the spawn in March!

The top water this year was not very good. The bigger keeper fish stayed under the small ones.

All Black Bass CPR only on my boat.

Hooked into 15-20 big Flathead Catfish this year. This one was on 6 lb line crappie fishing.

Just a picture of one of the boat ramps. That was from my "old" 898si. I upgraded to a Humminbird Solix and put a Minkota Ultrex on the front. Fish just cant hide.

Group of crappie under a bridge in 6 ft of water in the shade.

Winter Fishing $150 a Person.

Couple Texoma Trips too: $350

The lake is pushing out limits everyday.

There is a school that is suspended that I'll pop up here in there in the middle of the lake and boil. And there are separate schools that are pushing up on points and flats in the morning and in the evening.

The lake is fishing so good after we get a limit of Sandy's we switch over to crappies and try to get a limit of them as well.

Otherwise they will push back out when the sun comes up to about 12 to 18 foot of water with 15 foot being the magic number.

Otherwise they will push back out when the sun comes up to about 12 to 18 foot of water with 15 foot being the magic number. White and chartreuse slabs one outs with a small white jig 18 inches above the lure will put limits in the boat quick.

I have been on numerous trips where the clients will limit out in 13 drops.

They will actually catch all 25 fish in 13 casts. They will pull into fish each cast resulting in 26 fish and they will have to release one.

Then it's just catch and release the rest of the trip or until they get bored of catching. It seems 80% of my clientele gives up before the trip is over as these fish are wearing us out. Will usually have the limit in the boat before 8 o'clock each day.

If you're interested in a trip text me is the easiest way to find a day. Otherwise you can call me or email me. Have a great week y'all.

Free seminar at Bass Pro Shop Garland, Texas. July 29th at 2 PM. It will cover how to catch Crappie, sand bass / white bass, and black bass. See y'all there.

Today over 350 keeper Sandys hit the deck within one hour. Left them biting every drop.

Those pimples are the sandies. I turned on the Bobo Thumper, and they rose up and we started to murder them. The far left side of the screen is when I first spot locked. And immediately I turned the thumper on and you can see they came all the way up The water column. This was at 2 pm. Lavon sandies always are ready to eat.

Hi Carey . I remember your advice for 4 lb line for white bass in the creeks but when your fishing lake lavon have you noticed the line size making much difference ? Also when you fish with double jigs have you found a line size " weight " in between the jigs to be very important ? Thank you .

Tons of other pics on my Facebook page.

Lure: RSR Ghost Slab 1 oz
Line: 15 lb Berkley Big Game ( slab and teaser jig)
Line: 12 lb Berkley Big Game ( just a slab no teaser jig )

Lake Lavon Report: if you look at all the previous months, nothing has changed. Other than the fish zeroed in on white colors this year and there was no shallow coho bite due to the high water and gates releasing. Since the creeks have been muddying up with the rains, I have been moving trips out of the creeks and onto the mainlake. The sandies are still going nuts when land on the main school.

Glass House Point and Hybrid Point the last two weeks have been greatness. 20-30 ft deep. Any color slab has been working but white seems to be best. Lots of big Sand Bass have showed up. Well over 2 lbs and have some huge shoulders on them.

The biggest boat show I have seen is six boats this year. These fish are basically untouched and Im usually the only one on the lake fishing for them each day. If Im not chasing another species. I think Ive only missed my limit twice this entire year and we threw in the towel early those two days. Otherwise limits are super easy wind permitting.

The fish are in the cove in 25-30 ft at glass house cove. If you beat the bottom of the boat with a rod butt or something hard, the fish get curious and come to you. Instead of beating the boat with something you can get a Bobo Thumper
Which is an automatic sledge hammer in a box. Does all the noise making for you. Within five minutes of turning it on if there are Sandys in your area, they will gather underneath your boat. You cannot be drifting though need to be stationary. Watch your electronics and theyll tell you what depth theyre at. Put your slab right in their faces. I have not had to dead stick one bit. The fish are still super active.

Sometimes theyre just off the north point of the island in the same depth. If theyre not there theyll be at hybrid point on the main drop offs on the west side of the point. Hybrid point is directly east of the island tip. It has a huge underwater flat.

Wind permitting I have a few openings here in there. Just ring me and we can see where we can fit you in.

****Saturday, December 22 at 3 PM I am conducting a free seminar at Cabelas in Allen Texas. This will be over electronics and I will be covering side imaging, down imaging, and 2D. I have over 150 slides with a slideshow from all the DFW metroplex lakes. It will show fish ( all species) , structure, man-made objects etc. I will go over each frame and explain what is in the picture so then youll have a better idea of what youre looking at when you get on the lake, in your own boat.****
