I have an 1199 and 898 linked, and a helix 7 G2 2d/DI upfront with the 898. I use the 898 for GPS, and can go over the things with the 2d/DI. ( had it about 2 trips now) I can pick up the SI image from the 1199 on the 898, and if I see something on SI, I can still mark it and go back over with the helix

The Di image on the Helix is crazy. I cant image what the Mega looks like. I ran over a school of shad on the Helix at EML that I though had to be sandbass based on the images I was seeing, and they started coming up around me, they were 3-4 inches long.

I have 2 hds 9s on the front. One is mounted over the other. One is always on sonar using the troll transducer. The other is on chart, di and si. Works for me.
Also hds12 on console, all linked together.

My two cents, which may not be worth two cents, but I have run a little bit of everything on the front deck and at the dash. My current set up as a Helix 12 on the front deck with 360 imaging, which by the way is amazing (the 360). To pull up to a waypoint that you have fished for years and see that just off to the side is a huge laydown and you can actually see the fish on it and catch them, never seen anything like it. I had SI on the front deck, not worth the money, remember any little movement of the trolling motor other than straight ahead and you are changing the angle of what you are seeing. For about the same money as an SI unit you can buy one that is DI only and buy a 360 transducer (I only shoot mine forward which is 180, not 360 to give me the biggest picture possible of what's out in front of me). The SI unit in G2 is about $500 more than a Di, you can buy the 360 for $700-$800 new and I saw one on here the other day for like $400 PLUS you get directional antenna with 360. You can get away with just that unit but I run a second unit on the front deck as well, an 1199 that is not DI, I just wanted a very inexpensive unit (even team guys pay for them) that would give me great mapping on a big screen and also give me good 2D sonar when I need it in addition to my 360 or DI on the Helix. Also one other thing that is ABSOLUTELY worth the money, get a directional GPS antenna, which the 360 comes with. That way you always know which way the boat is facing, know how difficult it is when you are fishing slow to keep track of where stuff, like brushpiles, are since either the boat icon and map spin or you just get the circle and the map is confused? The directional antenna keeps your map pointed exactly as your boat is points, I'd NEVER have a boat without one for my front graphs now. They are only about $150, makes a unit many times more effective....just my two cents.

After cutting the cable on my 4th transducer, I stopped even running a FF on the bow. My terrova remote tells me my depth and I haven't even missed it.
