I sure as heck wouldn't have driven there for anything less than VIP all access passes, us normal folks avoid that area like the plague...

I hope the event this year is a success, wish I cold make it!

I agree, metro west or east, way east.

Yep hard to say anything bad about a company that has done so much for bass fishing.

More specifically, Gulf States Toyota and Texas bass fishing. Having been involved with the TTBC since before its inception, I will tell you that were it not for Mr. Friedken and his company (GST), the TTBC may not have ever happened. I have nothing but good to say about the man, his company and Toyota in general. First class organization top to bottom.

Fouz with that GST talk it makes me think you are in advertising. I to agree that Toyota is a big proponent of Texas sportsman, from sponsoring the Sharelunker program to the TTBC. Also Kelly Jordan played a key role on getting this started as well to showcase Texas.

For those that gripe about the cost of entry, it's for the bands not the booths. I will tell you that they operate on a very tight budget and the years it was on Fork they did a great job, despite the weather.

They did a fabulous job at Conroe as well.

Kelly spent 11 days with me in South Texas chasing big whitetails that season. My next door neighbor down there, Donato Ramos, was the Vice-Chairman of the TPWD Commission at the time. Mr. Friedken was a Commissioner. Kelly and I would stop by for dinner and to visit at Donato's after our evening hunts. It was there the idea for the TTBC (and the benefit to TPWD and youth fishing programs) was hatched. We really wanted to do it the next year to showcase the 25th anniversary of Lake Fork, but time and schedules wouldn't allow it. Kelly and Mark Pack went down and met with the Commission not long thereafter. Mr. Friedken loved the idea and got behind the event financially and organizationally, and the rest is history.

I'm not in advertising Groupie, but GST was such a pivotal player in all of this, I always feel like I should acknowledge the company and the people there who helped make this happen. And it wasn't just Dan but a bunch of his employees. First class folks.

Costa Repair Team will be on hand to clean and repair your Costa's at no charge. This deal was a big hit at the Classic in Houston. They were replacing worn frame parts and scratched lenses. This is all part of the new Costa Cares initiative.

Also, come by and register for a new Skeeter ZX 225 that will be given away at the end of the year, as well as checking out all the new Costa frames and lenses for 2017.

Hope to see ya'll there.

Roger are they going to bring some Zane lenses with them?

I'm sure they will.

I'd suggest getting there as soon as you can. We'll be at the Expo Center starting on Fri.

This is not the same as the former TTBC. This now is a BASS event and renaming of the BASS Fan Fests. Toyota is a sponsor. Toyota turned the TTBC event over to BASS to manage and it's part of the Elite schedule.

Haha. I guess we will see!! Honestly, I'm looking for a big crowd on both. Big tournament guys will be spot stealing from all the pros which might get a few guys pissed and the normal Sealy people will be on toledo

They tried with the TTBC and it did not work. I do not fault them for trying to make things bigger and get more exposure. They took the Classic to Houston and it was a crazy big success. You never know until you try. I will be heading out to Lufkin to attend and then head home on Sat. night.

I am puzzled , Toyota , an International company , with it's US head quarters based in Texas , is getting bashed on this forum by some of y'all for spending it's money and time supporting a recreational sport that all of you
supposedly enjoy ? Maybe it's just me , but I would bet there are 49 other states that would love to have this gigantic company support it's bass fishing .
Maybe we should be asking why GM , Ford , Chrysler/Dodge , Nissan , Mercedes are NOT supporting our sport ?
