We were coming home from Fork Today and heading up Highway 69 to head back to the house.

Driving through Point, Texas like we always do and we came up to the ole Stop Sign there and came to a complete stop.

Next thing we know we are getting pulled over.

Evidently, our two front wheels were across the White Line at the Stop Sign. Say What?

The fine officer issues us a citation for $250. Are you kidding me?

I am a huge supporter of Law Enforcement, but come on man...really?

That is pretty darn weak.

Has anyone else been to Point, Texas and know the stop sign I am talking about?

Thanks for the heads up. I go that way a lot and haven't noticed any traffic stops. Like you said "really weak". Headed through there tomorrow, hope I remember this post.

Been that way for as long as I can remember.

Several years ago got pulled over for speeding when I wasn't speeding. How can I prove it? My word against his. Guess who won?

Love the thump.

Lone Oak right there next to Point is just as bad. It's ridiculous. I hardly call it "To Serve and Protect".

Very lame...this needs to be investigated by one of the local TV stations. Making it public will get the District Attorney (politician) involved.

I am truly sorry to hear this....contact the Judge and see if they offer deferred adjudication....basically its probation, time frame set by judge. As long as you don't get another citation within that time frame, ticket goes away.

Stopping behind the white line is the law, but I agree, it sounds pretty chicken-s... to me.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Most stop sign intersections don't even have a white line. If you get a citation because you're threatening the safety of the public, that's one thing. But getting one on a technical infraction where nobody was put in danger....

I know the law is the law. But there is a difference between using judgement to ensure public safety (which most officers are doing) and simply generating revenue. Had you had a local address I bet you would have got a warning. Happens all the time. Locals get warnings. Out of towners get fines.

Its not just Texas,US Municipal Court systems over all are squeezing for every penny
"Protect and Serve" died off over a decade ago
"Oppress and Collect" is now the new Order of business
You now serve the Empire of America and its going to get much, much worse.

My wife got a ticket for the same thing in Richardson last year. I think it was $175.00. Just to make this thread legal, how was the crappie fishing on Fork?

Thanks for the replies all. I just needed to vent last night.

The fishing on Fork was great considering the wind we were fighting all day.

Ended day with 34 Keepers and threw back around 150 dinks. It was a very good day.

Grapefruit Limeade and Grape Limeade by Pepop were the baits we used.

We tied doubles on our line. (One of Each).

I was fishing not working.

I was spending time on the water with my Dad.

And despite the ticket it was a very memorable day in a very good way.

My Dad and I still support the Blue we know they have a tough job.

I mainly wanted to vent and warn others.

That sounds as bad as that waste dump SIX MILES off I-45 named Garrett Texas that steals money from drivers on the interstate and the pisssy little town is not even in sight!
