I don't get buying meat from the back of a pickup. Something just doesn't seem right about that.

I also don't really mind door to door salesmen. They are just trying to make a living like everybody else. But if I tell you no, you'd better GTFO. And don't knock after dark. That's a good way to get a clean look down the barrel of a 12 gauge at my house.

In Knoxville, TN, on occasion, you'll see a guy selling T-Bones and Ribeyes under a tent, on the side of the road...

Had them at my door last week selling steaks. Had to tell him no at least 5 times.

Where does that meat even come from ?

I would imagine expired beef.

Or maybe stolen cow.

We have them come thru our neighborhood about once every two months, but they never cause trouble and will just move on when you tell them no.

No way, not from the guys that stopped by few years ago. Just happened to catch me coming out of the tool shed with the vermin killer on my hip (38 with rat shot). Banged up van with no signage, ratty jeans & tshirts, no business card. They didn't even try to give me a sales pitch. Would you like to join the OSU meat delivery program? No? Okay, bye. Whole meeting took maybe 20 seconds. Was so positive they were casing the neighborhood reported it to the sheriff. He seemed real interested but never heard if anything ever came out of it.

Tried to sell my meat door to door, didn't do to well. Had to get a real job.

I used to know a girl that did this several years ago for a company that I don't think is in business anymore.

The food they sold was really high end and they charged accordingly for it. She did pretty well with it while she was doing it - she had regular customers that she'd visit and they almost always bought from her.

Anyway, whenever she'd host parties at her place, the food that was always cooked up was food she'd buy out of her own inventory. Almost without fail, whatever cut of meat, seafood...whatever...was being served, it was just about the best I had ever tried. It was legit good food.
