how can u tell the difference between crappie , cats and whites ?

Generally Crappie will be fairly tight to the cover in smaller schools while sandbass will be in large schools out in the open. Catfish usually are scattered in singles or pairs near the bottom.

Not always true but most of the time.

Found 2 sets of Tops someone put out in 16' of water yesterday. They are about 125 yards apart. They were full of hand size crappie which is typical when they are brand new.

Thank the Lord for Side Imaging!

Happened upon a school of Crappie feeding on Shad a couple of weeks ago. Ended up catching 60-70 crappie that day. Cold front came thru that night & caught less than 10 the next day.

There is some brush on the bottom, but most of this is Crappie rising up to ambush.

I finally figured out how to post a graph pic. This is Lake Graham from a while back. They are both the same picture. I could not load on here as a jpeg for some reason. Had to use png. I reckon I do not have my HB 999 tuned in properly.
Still learning. Do not know if those fish are crappie cause at that time, I still was not very good a catching them. Still not but I am getting better caught 10 nice ones the other day at Lake Leon (that's a PB for me banana).

You tell me,my down imaging is running hot(doesn't look as hot in person),and sonar running cold? But this is a school of shad reacting to me turning motor off and coasting in before dropping the trolling motor or are the crappie feeding? More interesting photo is why I'm sharing. nuts

We were dropping these. They sure looked bigger out of water roflmao ya they are 16-20' tall in 42' of water. Sounds too deep,we'll see
