Congratulations to your bro. He worked hard for that win.

I fished in the same tournament Sunday morning with a partner. I had two keepers in the well for ~4 lbs by 9:00 or so, with one of them at 2.6 lbs, so we were feeling good. But we struggled after that, with my partner boating one more small keeper for a three fish total of about 5 lbs. Once we saw the weights at the weigh-in, we did not bother and let our fish go. All being said I still had a great time with a great fishing partner. We joked about how the pattern at Medina is lack of a pattern.

The big one in our boat was caught on a main lake point using a large 1-oz two-bladed spinner with a split tail trailer, slow to medium retrieve, on 40lb braid with a 20 lb fluoro leader. I stuck with that most of the day, targeting deeper stuff. My partner was trying cranks and other things, but mostly used a trick-worm or a senko on a jig. He was getting lots of short-strikes on the trick worm from the little bass, and landed a few. We were in or just off of the main lake most of the day.

If I ever let one slip away, this is the one, caught a 1 pound keeper drop on a drop shot in 30' off a secondary point, we caught a 5lb 1oz fish around 9:30. Lost one close to the same size 10 minutes later, caught at least 10 fish between 13 and 3/4 inches long to missing the 14inch mark by a thread, of course caught the usually 20, 12 inch fish, cannot believe I lost the second big fish, was not paying attention as those big fish just swim with it and you don't feel anything as your line swims off, oh well, had a great time and look forward to the next one. Congrats to all who cashed in and weighed fish. I am always thankful to have the means to go out a spend a day on the water

Had that same exact day deude_mann. Spent the day on Main lake points with 2 decent keepers really early. Thought we were set up great with a bunch of bites and solid keepers then around 10am it became a struggle. We graphed over a nice pile of fish twice but couldn't get them to commit. We found a few more bites and 1 more keeper for ~5lbs total but didn't bother to weigh them after the 9lb bags hit. Soft plastics in 15-20' worked best for us on Carolina and tx rigs.

Oh man, golf courses should be full after 9lbs takes top 3. Some of y'all need a new hobby! roflmao just joking,Medina sure teaches a lot,it has to be one of the hardest lakes to pattern and since filling back up,cover and habitats are everywhere. The only lake I can do well one day,and get near skunked the next. Thank god for the short bass or we would be skunked a lot more often. 31 boat turnout, that's awesome! We took advantage of the weather and started building a pole shed at the house. thumb

Does anyone know if you can weigh in early? Or just at 2?

I think it was 9 pounds that won it, then there was 8 pounds for second, A 6 pounder was big fish. We had 3 for 5 pounds and some change with the usual 25 fish at 13 inches gimmick. I don't know but these fish stocked going on 3 years ago should be bigger than this I would think, I don't know how fast a Florida grows and I am sure it's habitat and groceries but these little guys have had a good supply of both,

5/16/17....

Lake is over 4' low now and dropping daily as the gates are open. Water clarity is great on lower end, up river has cleared and looks good. Water temp 75 and the youngsters are biting, keepers are very hard to come by but they are there. The plastic bite was the deal, as they didn't want to chase anything. Weather forecast calling for rain, we sure need it and some clouds could help.

The final Sunday tournament is coming up this weekend May 21st....info is posted under "Tournament Dates and Information Section"
