If you haven't been, you should go. I went a couple of times when it first opened, once a couple of years ago, and again yesterday. Never caught any real big fish, about 5 lbs being my best but always caught a few. Lost a good one yesterday. Caught a half dozen and lost just as many. This has to be the fishiest looking lake in east Texas.

I headed south from the ramp, had never been that direction, and just paddled and looked around until I couldn't stand it anymore and started fishing. The pads are coming out, the grass is growing, and there are so many areas in 4 to 6 feet of water that I guarantee not even kayakers can get close to. Lots of log jams in areas of grass that will provide a great breeding ground for years to come. Lots of places you can cast to bank or 15 feet depths.

Great ramps, restroom, handicapped parking, and overall a great place to see something new. Looks like there is room for about 50 boats in parking lot, there were probably 40 there at noon. Once on the water everyone seemed to disappear.

Lots of places to get your bait jacked.

Just plan to go at least once! cheers

I went last year for vacation and stayed at the cabin near the ramp. Went by myself and had a great time. I saw a local who fished from an aluminum boat with a hand controlled trolling motor. He had it so loose in the mount he could grab the head and lift it straight up to clear many of the lay downs. I was impressed how effective he was up in the shallow. Rarely did he have to pull it up from the bracket. The cool thing about that lake was casting over 2-3 lay downs and dragging a fish back. You don't get them all but man it was fun!

I'll never forget seeing these things in the water the first year. I swear this one was almost the size of a soccer ball. Very fertile water.
