yeah, you definitely want to check twice to ensure it is unplugged before getting your fingers up around the blade.

How do you make sure there are no air pockets when you pour? Is seacast stronger than coosa or penske board?

With Seacast, you use a rubber hammer to tap the transom shell but you also use a small tool to pack it in. I'm using a product called Arjay and it mixes a little thinner. You'll still tap the transom as it pours. I don't think it is stronger but it is a little easier to do for a DIYer and less invasive.

i hope everyone checks their stringers too, if you have a hot foot make sure all those fasteners are sealed. i took a 181 to the landfill a month ago after finding the stringers were toast.
both 4200 and 5200 are marine grade polyurethane "adhesive" sealant. like all polyurethane sealant, they will deteriorate when exosed to UV light.

Hey Bobby, what could possibly go wrong with my hoist? Took me the entire day to pull the motor & reinstall everything and restabbing the bolts was a mother f@$&*r! Then I couldn't get the torque wrench on the nuts because slidemaster sucks and didn't give an extra 1/2" opening. Man what a frustrating experience and something I won't do again. So after 1 month of drying and replacing every fitting possible I almost have my boat back together. Almost...

Glad to hear you are finally getting it back on the water. Bet your hoist works better than mine. I'm dreading trying to mount mine back by myself. I know it's going to be a PIA to line it all up and get the talon sandwiched between it and the transom. Hope you got it all taken care of.

If my garage door cable wasn't broke I could get my engine lift out, works great for lifting outboards and stabbing them on transoms....

That's ugly guys looks like you have under control though. Curtbass, (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but I believe all major boat mfg went to solid composite (no wood) in the late 1990's or early 2000's.

I hate to be the one that ruins the party, but...regardless of what your transom is made of, if water gets in it, it can and will deteriorate. Aghast...
Yep boys, fiberglass, nidacore, laminates, whatever material you think your "composite" is, if it gets wet, and stays wet, it'll come apart just as quickly.
If you have a ten year old boat and haven't resealed everything on it, you're a misguided idiot.

Useful life for the current sealants is 6-7 years and that is dependent on proper surface preparation and the sealant properly applied both in technique and quantity. If you have a new boat, there is no guarantee that it was correctly done at the yard.

Nope, some still use wood, think the speed bass boats like bullet use balsa because of weight advantage.
