Hey did you buy another boat or the pond hopper? I seen one on the deep water side of the lake last weekend loaded down. Looks really dangerous, but maybe not. I can't tell you about the bass,I feel either crappie is just starting up,or not really gonna happen. I found a few empty sack females & breeding color males in 30' ,and females with small egg sacks in 44-48'. Real slow fishing. I question my sanity crappie fishing out there. I always look shallow but never find any.

No, wasn't me. The pond hopper is used mostly on the Medina River. However, it's has seen a few lakes in its lifetime. Bought a new to me Nitro 700 and need to get it slimed. Gonna try and be out there this weekend. I'll post a report if I do. Thanks for the replies.

They are just starting to catch the heavy females in the tournaments, that seems prespawn/to spawn to me. I'd still focus on main lake near deep water in the coves. All those big fish only know that area since the water been so low so long . Look for deep grass and soft bottom.

Here's a comical picture, it'd be better if you could really tell how small this bass was. The hook was a 6/0 and the swimbait was 4.5", little guy killed my bait with a vengeance. I don't think he was more than 10" long, but he was a pretty little guy. These little bass crack me up with their attitudes, hopefully they are still this mean when they get some weight to them.

Love the reports for this rejuvenated old lake! Sold my boat a few years ago due to the drought, but just bought another and I am exicted about getting back on the water again. What stage are the bass in? Have they spawned yet? Same questions for crappie. Any info would be appreciated. It's hard to say. As mentioned a few post ago. We also caught fish in anywhere from 6" of water all the way out to 35'. I fished a plastic worm Texas rigged all day and did really well around 15' - 20'. The guy I was with fished a swim bait, crank bait, top water plug and a few other things with a slow reel. Everything caught fish but I was definitely out catching him on a plastic worms. For the structure it didn't really seem to matter because we hit a few flats, the rocky banks that stair step off into the water, a couple of points and a few areas with lots of brush. The main thing was that if you got one, there was almost always another one near by. Around 1300 the bite seemed to die off but we were still catching fish. It seemed we had to slow way down on the retrieve. It's wordy but hopefully it's helpful. Edit: I have caught 6 crappie out there over the past couple times I've been. Before that I didn't even know they were in the lake. Everyone of them I've caught has been on a plastic worm that I was trying to catch bass on. The guy I was fishing with Sunday caught a nice bluegill on a plastic worm as well. I can't wait to take my kids out there and do some red worm fishing. We saw some monster bluegill in a few of the coves we fished. Here's a comical picture, it'd be better if you could really tell how small this bass was. The hook was a 6/0 and the swimbait was 4.5", little guy killed my bait with a vengeance. I don't think he was more than 10" long, but he was a pretty little guy. We had a few like that as well. They were little but hit like a brick.

I have caught some of those at Medina as well. It's funny, they feel like a decent fish right after hook set, and put on a big fight, but then they get close to the boat and you have the 'oh...' moment. Ha! They all look like very healthy fish though with great color and good weight (for their size) just like the one in your picture. I think I know where you caught that one BTW looking at the opposite shore.

I couldn't tell you the name, it's on a flat in a creek mid lake. Big bluff at the mouth of it, caught a ton of dinks around that bluff. Heck, caught dinks just about wherever I have fished. I'm guessing the bigger ones must be Main lake since I never fish it and all I catch is dinks everywhere else.

It's been a few weeks since I have been on the lake, I will be there Sunday fishing the bi weekly tournament, it's hard to believe but there is still some fish that have not spawned yet, I do think more have spawned then we we think. Have not seen a lot of beds but I think the fish there are just spawning in a little water, I will have everything tied on from a top water bait to a Carolina rig and throw any of them with confidence for sure. Just pick you a area of the lake you like and fish how you are comfortable fishing and you will have success, the lake is in great shape and holding water so that is a plus and hopefully another good spawn.
I am blessed to have a opportunity to live a childhood dream as a professional wrestler

Fished the tourney Sunday in the crazy wind. We caught roughly 60 bass mostly off main lake rocky points in 20'of water, only 2 keepers. Any soft plastic worked, a few on swimbaits and deep cranks. About 10am the trolling motor died so we did a lot of anchored fishing out of the wind (anchor couldn't hold us on the points we wanted to fish). Results were really low overall, I think only 1 limit and 7+lbs won it. Much different than the last one. Caught a 6.5lb catfish on an underspin keitech from shore in 5' water, thought I had a monster bass for a minute lol

Haha, that's fun. Thats Medina for you. Thanks for the report. We crappie fished Saturday, still tough to find them. Did some exploring fishing and came up empty. Did catch 8 on grass in 40'. Sounds crazy but fish sure are deep in that lake sometimes. May fish the next tournament. I like to donate to the pot. Meet new people.

We went out Friday afternoon for a quick crappie trip. Hit the normal spots and no one was biting. Even with live bait. Moved a few times but no luck. Been a long while since I've been skunked on Medina. Saturday I still had live bait and a new plan to see what's going on. Only my youngest would go back with me. Found a few, crappie are going shallower and really don't like the winds we've been having. My boy had a large bass at the boat, 3lb is fair estimate but 4+lbs wouldn't surprise me. He tried to swing her in the boat like a crappie but the medium light rod just bowed over and fish hit the side of the boat. I got a crappie dip net but the fish was wider and my swing came up empty, straightened the crappie jig and was gone. Good fun anyway. First zebra stripe I seen at Medina. And first undersized fish too.
