It was a great day on the creek, I enjoyed fishing with you also J-Moe. I went up nails this morning and the shad were jumping all along the banks, I used a shallow crank bait that looks like a small sunfish and caught 4 keeper crappie and 3 small ones, and 3 largemouth bass. The 4 crappie I kept all were females and full of eggs.

Give man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach man to fish, he'll sit on a boat and drink beer all day.

Unless we get another good rise in the Yegua the whitebass run will wind down quickly and will be all but over by early April. I'm not sure why but there have been noticeably fewer large females up the Yegua to add to the stringers of males. One thing to keep in mind is the crappie and blackbass fishing should remain good to great well into May or later if there is fresh water.

Nice catch coolshot. Wish I had answers for this years spawn, it has been weird to say the least. Plenty of water flow, warm weather, but very few good bite days. Weird, weird, weird.... If only I had some answers.....

I have been fishing NB for 20 years and haven't ever caught as many largemouths in one day as I did last week. Healthy, pretty fish all around 1.5-2 lbs...I am getting my butt back up there asap to try for some crappie. Park attendant said that Big Creek Marina may not re open...that would be a shame. Great crappie dock. We should all pitch in and make a TFF crappie dock out of it!

So is it leased from the corps or privately owned?

Great catch, you trolling or casting? Are they deep or on the sandy points?

1Tacklehoarder I believe that Big Creek is privately owned... Ever since 2015 when it got flooded out, their facebook page has gone quiet. I don't believe they are going to open it this year, nor sell it. It just seems to be locked up.
It is sad because it was a good place to go for fishing, swimming and just spending time with family there.

Caught this big girl in a deep cove of the main lake a week and a half ago.
If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.
