Nothing at Welch this morning but a couple small largemouths. Went to the spillway at 9 and had a hybrid come off at the bank and caught a few goos and buffalo and a couple catfish. Left about 11 to go pond hopping and glad I did. I caught a couple spawned out sow bass that were 7-8 lbs or so. 25.5 and 26.25 inches long. The smaller bass in the area ponds I have access to have not spawned yet, but the bigguns have.

Thanks Troy

I want to go fish Yegua on Saturday morning, but it looks like rain. Could it still be worth it to fish through the rain?
Last weekend paid off, but it was only light rain in the morning, this could be a little more heavy rain.

bang why does it always rain on the weekend!!

You get a few hours to fish after it starts raining if it is not too heavy. If it rains Friday night or early Saturday morning I'd probably think twice before slipping on down to the creek.. I'll bet today and Friday will be good..

Yegua is still up about half foot or so, still flowing quickly and stained. The fish were tough to pinpoint, but if you hit the right place at the right time you could pickup 8 to 10 fish. I saw a few nice stringers, it took them about 6 hours or so to get them though. They were using heavy jigs and bouncing them off the bottom. Tight to the bank or logs. Lots of empty stringers too.

I fished 5 spots thoroughly and only caught fish in one spot. I caught 8 white bass, no crappie, bluegill or large mouth.

No, I walked into NB but I also checked Irwin. Water seemed to be even dirtier at Irwin and the reports I got were poor.

OK!!! Secured time next week...right smack in the middle of Spring Break...to take my buddy down there. Can you primitive camp anywhere besides Nails Creek SP down there? I used to at Newman's but am assuming that since the Trailway is closed that is not an option. Would rather not have to go to Birch...we don't mind roughing it especially if it gets us away from any crowds. Any suggestions?

A great day on Yegua today for me and my dad. We caught 28 white bass(3 female) together, and 2 catfish. We battled the wet slick banks and rain and it paid off.
