Great day of fishing thumb That water was very stained. What did y'all use to catch them?

The females are in the picture.

We used a bettle spin with a white jig head 1/8 oz and white curly tail grub, and a black jig head with a yellow and orange grub.

Thanks, Glad to hear white/white worked. The males were so big it was difficult to tell which ones were female. Great stinger!!!!!

Nice haul. Last trip I made out there the water still looked like a mud flow. Wish it would clear up some, I would like to get out there and catch a few mega whites. Tired of catching these smaller whites on the San Gabriel. But I'm catching something and I guess that's better than nothing at all.

We walk in from Irwins, but we walk down a good ways, we end up only being about a mile from the Newman's bottom crossing bridge!

The past two Saturdays that we went it rained on us all day and was overcast sky's, I guess the white bass get a bit more active then.

Headed out early manana...state parks are full so we are camping at yegua park. Trying to decide between cedar or nails to start...will prob try for crappie first and if they arent cooperating go after whites at Newmans. Anybody been out last couple days?

Good day today! 40 fish with a mix of whites, blacks, and crappie. Got a late start too.

Wednesday was a excellent day of fishing. I walked into Newman's bottom and fished from 4 PM to 8 PM. I caught 26 white bass. The fish were in the shallower water and I found them in just about every spot I fished.

Thursday evening, not so much. I walked back into Newman's and started fishing around 4 PM again. There were reports the fishing was good in the morning but nobody was catching when I was there. After 45 minutes and hitting 3 spots without a bite I was ready to call it quits, it was just dead. I kept fishing though and eventually caught 3 by roll casting an extremely heavy fly into the deepest parts of the creek. I left about 6 PM and tried Cedar. I caught only 1 there. I didn't see any spawning or movement in the shallow runs.

The creek around Newman's bottom is still flowing well, back close to normal level and clearing up pretty well.

Lake level is 238.1 and releasing 94 cfs.

Tuesday and Wednesday were great days, the bite was on fire. On both days I took home a limit in 2 hours, it was fun.
But my fish were caught on the San Gabriel river above Granger Lake.

I walked into Newman's bottom on Saturday morning and fished until around 9:30 AM. I caught 9 white bass.

I left Newman's and went kayak fishing for crappie. I met up with bigbassman90 (Luke) in his new kayak. We caught some big, beautiful crappie. One even going 1.5 lbs. Enjoyed fishing with you Luke.
