Kurth had to do work on the dam. Since the water had to be drained some they decided to redo the boat ramp also. Still a one lane ramp, but it is new. Also has a pier by the ramp to use for loading purposes.

Kurth was the deal, but it was best the first year I fished it 4 years ago. I haven't been on it since summer. I've had some special days on it. I moved to east Texas to fish Rayburn and Toledo, but Kurth being 10 minutes away, I spent probably 50 days a year on it for 3 years. I think Rheem caught 3 over 11 one winter? I lost 2 that were that big. Oh well. That's the life cycle of a lake.

Kurth peaked mid to late 2000's. You could fish it all alone atleast 2-3 days a week. It was the closest thing to a managed private fishery you could get but it was public. It has very little inflow even during periods of rain. Water would stay very clear with some of the best flipping grass in the state. I know of atleast 3 over 13 and one floater 15+ that came from there. We caught alot of fish 8-12lbs, actually lost count. It was that easy.

I found the floater Jaret is referring to. It was a couple days dead and weighed 15 pounds 15 ounces.

On the smaller lakes it's easier for kvd to get his bent pole pattern rolling as the others are closer. Never seen him on a bent pole pattern. Duckett, Ike and a few others. It not KVD. He usually kicks their arse with a totally different pattern Yeah was going to say I've "NEVER" seen him do that before... Duckett, Ike, Ish, Short, and others sure do!! But KVD??? Heck all the other guys are throwing his baits and still can't beat him!! Yall need to watch more mlf he was really bad about it in the beginning. I'm sure he stil does but they prolly edit it different now. I'm almost 100% sure I've watched every episode that's been aired. I have it set to tape first show, reair, etc on every channel I could find and I usually watch em twice to make sure I didn't miss anything! There are tons of subtle hints and tricks in those shows and I watch to learn! All that being said I've blatantly seen guys just drive by another angler and say "as soon as he hits the cut line I'm going there" and not once have I see KVD do it. I'm sure like everyone else he is observant but like what Short did the other day when he just drove 200 yards past the guy and caught a 5lber... that's spot poaching!

Looking at the area map I saw Kurth and wondered if they would hit it! Haven't heard much about that lake at all but while reading the above comments seems like the lake "had" a lot of potential and was chitting out a ton of good fish!
Strike King just did a show on Naconiche and looked like a ton of standing timber and fairly small? For 10 anglers wouldn't be bad I guess but you'll def have people in close proximity.

Numerous episodes have anglers trying to hide from Kevin so he won't come in on them. One of the worst ones was when Alton jones had to repeatedly pick up his troller and pretend to move so Kevin would leave right after coming in on him.

Say what you want, it's a game. That dude plays to win! I'm not a huge KVD fan, nor do I dislike him. All of those guys do it and know it's part of the game. Look at pics on bassmaster.com. There are guys piled up on one another when there are bed fishing, or ledge fishing. Bent rod pattern is just part of it. Now your a potlicker if your not fishing for a living. I've seen Lake Fork guides swarm like killer bees on a roadbed or pond dam when the deep bite is on. Just saying!
