throw the buzzer hard into the wind then count it down while your pulling out the backlash, reel in like crazy to get back the slack then set the hook. this scares them into biting when the thing comes buzzing off the bottom

I've been getting them with a c-rigged Whopper Plopper with a 9 ounce tungsten.

I've been wearing them out with 1 buzzbait and 4 10XDs on an A-rig. Just gotta be sure the buzzbait is in the center for it to work. Mostly pitching timber on secondary points with an ultralight spinning setup and 4lb flouro. Stupid heavy sacks everyday, over 30lbs.

In 1978 I was a sales rep for a large wholesale company traveling Okla and NE Texas. Buzz baits were new then. I called on Gibsons in Daingerfield and an older gentleman approached me and asked what was working. I showed him a buzz bait and gave info to cast and reel in.
Two weeks later ,when I called again, same gentleman was there and said " I caught 2 bass over 6 lbs on those baits. I wish you would have told me to put a worm weight on them. They kept coming to the top. Took a 3/8 sinker to keep them down before I caught anything."

What brand do you think is best for this? Can I get by with the $1 buzz baits at academy or do I need the strike king? Also, running trailers on it with you t-rig it or just straight buzz. I heard mono would be a good kind of line for this, but think I'm gonna do floro cause the waters been so clear and I don't wanna lose any bites over line scare.

Early 90s I fished a Cowboy Division Red Man Draw Tournament on Lake Palestine. The guy I fished with claimed to be a guide on Lake Fork. He threw a black buzz bait with split shot on it and called it a spinnerbait.

He never caught a fish all day.

Thanks, Billy

a number of years ago, my brother and I fished the old HoneyHole team tournaments.....there was a team, that was fairly good, when asked "what did you catch them on?" their reply was...."you wouldn't believe it if I told you"
Well, one tournament, my brother and I did VERY well....they asked us "what did you catch them on?" I replied..."you wouldn't believe it if I told you"....one guy said "sure I would" so....my response...."Carolina rigged buzzbaits". the look on their faces was priceless.... roflmao roflmao

The key is to burn it so it stays up in the water column. roflmao

Did I ever tell you about the 12 bass caught on 12 consecutive cast on 12 different spinner baits?

Water temp. was 45 degrees. I had build a hot box to hang the blades inside to heat them up. You get one cast with each bait while the blades are hot. The Bass loved them. Had no trouble winning two tournaments in a row.
