**edit: in case some folks don't know, heeb is a derogatory term for someone that is Jewish

It's considered the most offensive by some Jews.

I learned something today.

geez, must folks cry about everything. One has nothing to do with the other.

I'm not crying about anything, man. I'm not Jewish. I'm simply pointing out that the word 'Heeb' is considered one of the most offensive Jewish slurs. PF was explaining why calling a store Heeb might be confusing to some people. No one is crying. Simply pointing things out. Geez.

I'd never heard it until a couple of years ago.

**Update?**

Maybe it's a regional or situational thing. I'm 55 and moved around a lot until I was ten then grew up in Dallas but I pretty much always knew what 'heeb' (and this this the best spelling to use for our purpose) meant.

I believe it started as an abbreviated term/insult for Hebrew which would insinuate Jew. Not sure where it started but I recall hearing it more up North when the family visited family and friends.

The interesting thing about the story I told was that my wife grew up in Greenville, TX. And when the girl in her law class asked the question about it being offensive (and this was in 1986?), my wife was familiar with the term.
{complete disclosure: my wife went to Tulane University in New Orleans which has had a large Yankee/Jewish enrollment for years [it's jokingly referred to as Jewlane]so she may have learned the term there.

Getting back to my original point... My wife is still friends with the Yankee/Jewish girl and 30 years later she still laughs at the HEB/heeb joke.

Rappers use the N word. Gays use the F word. It's a slur, keep looking at the Google results beyond Wikipedia.
