I have completed the install on my new Garmin 93sv, but have not had an opportunity to test on the water yet. Does the location for my transducer look correct? There was not a better place to attach it, but am not sure if there will be interference due to it not being at the lowest point of boat. Appreciate any feedback.

It will work there but you won't get a reading on plane due to the stepped hull, you'd need it more off to the right there past the chine. I can't really tell by the picture but you need it 3-6 millimeters below the hull line for best reading, if you've got it totally blocked by the hull you will get bubbles affecting your reading even at trolling speed. Thats why its alway a good idea to install on a tranducer mounting plate so you can move it around to tweak without having to drill additional holes in your boat.

That's exactly where mine is and I haven't had any issues from it, works great. My Mako has a funky looking hull in the back and that's as low as I could put it.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. You can see on the transducer mount where screws enter transom that I have it set at its highest point, figuring I may need to lower it 1/8-1/4", guess I'll know for sure when I get it off the trailer. There was no way to set it further to the right, as the area you see is curved inward with no flat mounting surface. Hope this works, as I don't see a better place to install it.

That's exactly where mine was mounted on my Skeeter and it worked just fine even when running on pad but at 50-55 mph it's outta the water and you lose the bottom reading. My biggest concern is knocking the thing off when it hits a stump so I purchased a transducer shield and saver and re-mounted it to my jack plate. I now lose the bottom reading at about 10 mph but I'm not worried about knocking it off if I hit/roll a stump. Garmin does not make a Y-cable, yet, where you can switch between a in-hull transducer and the SV transducer. So, now I gotta get a in-hull transducer and then switch to it when I want to make a run somewhere. Have to select it in settings on the unit and then switch back to the SV transducer when idling. A little frustrating they don't have a y-cable.

Thanks, was worried about the step-in on my transom and what impact it would have on the ready, starting to feel a little better after the feedback.

A little frustrating they don't have a y-cable. These adapter cables to run an inhull xducer and a transom-mount SV xducer with echoMAPs have been available for some time. A different adapter cable is needed depending on whether you have a CHIRP or nonCHIRP echoMAP. But, you have to run the GT30 (Side/ClearVu only, no 2D) on the transom for Side/ClearVu when using the adapter cables and inhull xducer. With either of these adapter cables, the echoMAPs can only handle one source for traditional 2D, so the all-in-one xducers that typically come with the units will not work in this arrangement. CHIRP echoMAPs Y cable: Garmin y cable GT15 inhull 2D: GT15 GT30: GT30 nonCHIRP echoMAPs X cable: Garmin x cable p72: P72 The same GT30 as above.

What issue am I going to have at high speeds? I don't believe the little 90hp I have gives my boat enough lift to where the transducer is out of the water when on plane. I'm topping out mid-30s. Should I be concerned about losing depth reading when running?

I mean above 10 mph I lose the bottom reading since the transducer is mounted to the jackplate. Below 10 mph it's good.

That's the best spot for it! I have it mounted right there on my boat as well. You will just lose depth reading when getting on plane and on plane, and it will come back when you go back down to idle.

That's concerning that I may lose depth reading when on plane. What are you guys doing to address this? I moved my console unit that had through hull transducer to the front of the boat. Still have the Lowrance wiring for it, but it is no longer connected to anything. Appreciate any ideas that don't involve me having to drill into my boat again.
