Go fishing, Rube. Catch a big one of your own and quit being jealous. If you knew Rube you'd know he's not jealous.

I may just quit fishing altogether, now.....would you care to care for my caring bass? Yes, I like some of the videos. Hopefully, they will take heed to your advice. But I've been know to kick one pounders off the carpet and into the drink. But not anymore.....

seen a bass a few years ago bout 4-5lbs that had fungus all over him and he was just swimming right under the water this due to probably flopping in bottom of a boat and his slime coat getting rubbed off and creating this fungus. i hate it when they start flopping all over the boat carpet cause i know its not good and has happened to me but i try and keep them off the floor and not out of the water more than i have to if i weigh them i always hold them in the water for bout 15-20 seconds then take pic and release them ASAP and i never use a net i always lip them cause and if they get off at boat the fight was fun and i don't have to touch them..

If a fish that loses it's slime coat is in such dire straights, why does the immune response not regenerate it? It has to secrete the slime in the first place! I am not a biologist, but these two "facts" seem to be at odds. Maybe it is something else in the catch, hold, release process other than the fragile slime coat.
During the spawn a bass rubs against trees, rocks, ect bloodying themselves in the process. Yeah, they are "wet", but I honestly believe the fish are more hardy than we make them out to be.

People seem to care way less about what you think about anything when you preface the entire post by beginning with "all you guys making hot chit videos that all you guys on the TFF seem to love". Kind of makes it hard to focus in on what "really makes you mad". I saw some good points about fish handeling that I completely agree with but quickly lost interest in what you thought because of the lack of focus on the topic when you immediately led down that rabbit trail. :-)

Since nobody really fishes from the back deck of my 24.5' bass boat, I anchored a stainless steel propane cooker on the rear deck. The livewell isn't needed now that I can cook those big sow bass fillets fresh out on the lake, so I keep a 10# propane bottle in there. I did get fussed at on the lake one day for pouring hot vegetable oil overboard prior to the 85 mph run back to the dock.

So what happens with the slim around the hole you create in the fish face when you rip that 5/0 hook into it? So instead of the carpet you want people to use a net that's been on the carpet and/or in the dirty rod box all day? Sounds like you need to hop n the water and hook the fish without ever touching it. Did you wet you hands before handling that 12lber? Did you apply sunblock to the fish while weighing it?

All good points, but a bit extreme. Very few bass get their jaws broke from lipping. The bigger they are the higher the odds of course. Also, very few bass get a fungus from briefly touching carpet on the bottom of the boat. Some small percentage do I'm sure, but if it happened regularly we'd see who lakes full of zombie fungus fish. In my opinion, bouncing a bass around inside a live well for 8 hours is far more dangerous than most of the things the OP mentioned.
I'm all for fish care, I'm all for being good stewards of public resources. I generally agree with the message here, but lets not forget at its core fishing is a blood sport. None of us have clean hands. I choose to look it right in the eye and call it what it is. I don't think we need to be ashamed of the sport.
