It does not matter where they were fishing. It was the best show I have seen all season. On each of Jimmy's crappie shows, he casts the lure and retrieves it slowly. He never just vertically jiggs the lure. Seems that all of the TFF'rs vertically jig over structure. Which is best? I am hung up all the time when I try casting the jig.
He had a show about ten years ago on Lake Lavon and was casting into submerged trees. I recognized the spot and tried it with very poor results. I still have the tape, but no longer have a VCR. It was a memorable show, also.

I was at Lavon right after they shot that show and Wally took me to the trees/brushpiles they were casting to. All I did was hang up. But when Waldo put the boat on top of the structure and we would drop the jig and vertical jig.......WHAM! Maybe it's that "countdown" method.....I get confused when I count past 5...

Does the fact that they shot this show on a private lake take away from Jimmy Houston Outdoors? Yes it does. Credibility anyways. Most of us watch fishing shows not only to be entertained, but to learn something as well. Otherwise, we would just watch infomercials where they catch 5lb bass on every cast with the new miracle-lure. Jimmy knows this, thats why there was a convienent omission of what lake they were on. I dont care about the moral side of trying to pass off a private stock-filled lake with public waters, its a business afterall. But as a consumer, Im not going to believe him and go out and buy what he recommends if I dont think hes credible. Its sort of a self-correcting market force to keep tv fishng shows as real as they can get. And I am currently involved in the production of a fishing show. I understand that product endorsment makes the show possible. Ive heard lots of stories of people in the business of hamming it up for the camera and slick film editing. Its a tight rope to promote your sponsors with out turning into an infomercial. Jimmy just should have came out and said they were in a private lake and been honest.
