She just notices them more easily. My youngest is the same way. I can be outside doing yard work and not notice them at all...soon as she comes outside she is pointing them out and scared and then I notice them.

What a maroon!

You said they keep coming back to the same spots every year. One thing you can do is kill the wasps but DO NOT knock the nest down. Once you kill them all from that nest, new ones will not use it and the old nest will keep that spot unoccupied for several years.

^^^this .

I grow the pitcher plants ( sarcenia purperea) that you can buy at Lowe's and HD . It takes a few years for them to grow large enough but they attract and eat wasps .

Don't start swinging wildly at one with a pair of lopers in your other hand and don't ask me why.

If you know where any red wasp nests are, this morning is the morning to spray them.

They are pretty sluggish in the Cold.

I've never been popped spraying them (so far). Just make sure the can is full and give the nest a good dose.

Being as I live not too far from you and similar setting I see the same thing. I have a teen son that has had an allergic reaction and he gets a bit into the spastic dancing every now and again. I
ve been stung dozens of times but don't pay them much mind ... if they're too close I whack 'em with my cap.

Now them little yeller jacket bastages ... they are the debil!

Soapy water knocks 'em down just as well and is much cheaper ... just get a basting syringe (being a nurse I have access to all sorts of things that spray and blast.)

My wife is terrified of bees, wasps, hornets... she has never been stung. Every time we are outside, she does the same thing, wasp could be in the neighbors yard, but she will turn into a tornado of panic. On the boat, she is even worse. Don't understand it. I have been stung between the eyes, on the lip, inside my mouth, arms, legs....and I don't even bat an eye when one is around.

I don't know what lopers are.

They are what I use to trim my trees and if you had ever heard me speak you would know that my speech is as bad as my spelling. In fact I don't even know if that is just a word I have always used or if it is an actual name for this tool. It is a large claw looking tool I use to cut off small tree limbs with. One day swatting at a red wasp that decided I was invading his space and hit the end of that tool and put a large gap in the palm of my hand. I was cussing that wasp trying to hold a reel and fish for the next couple of weeks after that. I have so many bees at my property that I normally don't pay any attention to but that one was the DEVIL.

The foam spay is the best. As soon as it hits the nest it traps them. Dawn dish soap mixed with warm water will kill the heck out of them.
