I have fished Ray Hubbard for many many years and never fished north of 66.
This spring I am determined to head up the river.
The lake level shows to be 1 foot below normal pool. What is the shallowest water I should encounter on my trip up there and how long of an idle is it from the 66 ramp?

Idle? Probably a 1/2 hour at least. That's a long way! Get out a map and look at the areas marked by trees. Or get on Google Maps and note where the trees are as well. It's pretty open water up to the golf course.

To the golf course is fairly clear, then to the power lines is iffy. Be careful. Idle only past the power lines, and keep it trimmed high. Be ready to bounce off some stumps.

Fishing up in the river is NOT WORTH the effort, potential damage & time it takes to get up there.

I wouldn't recommend idling at the mouth of the river With the lake only being a foot low idling through the mouth shouldn't be a problem. The real danger comes from the heroes that feel the need to do 60mph around a blind curve.

Seen guys take off on plane from the mouth of the river all the way to golf course point then back on top to the bridge. Veterens of the river I supposed. I have followed a couple people and it's not as hard as people that have never been think it is. I was always scared to get in there but it's easy now. But idle only past powerlines is recommended unless you know it. Ive rolled over a few while idleing through there

The real danger comes from the heroes that feel the need to do 60mph around a blind curve. Last year when they flowed a few million gallons an hour out of Lavon for months on end, it made several new "high spots" just to the south of the mouth .
