Just to confirm, you have +12 volts to both the red lead and the yellow lead? The yellow lead is the wake-up wire and must have power applied to it in order for the SS module to power up.

I take this to mean that you measured the voltage on both the red and yellow wires and there is +12V on each of them and also a good ground to the unit. If that is the case, and you still have no LED's illuminated on the module (may be dim and difficult to see in sunlight), then the 3D module would appear to be defective.

My gen 2 hds8 went out so I wound up with an hds9 gen 3.
I got the total scan transducer but haven't installed it yet just using the lss2 box and transducer I have already installed.
Now the question. When I install the new transducer do I just hook it up to the lss2 box and what do I do about the original regular sonar since it's supposed to do all of the functions?

It connects directly to the StructureScan port on the back of the HDS Gen-3. The Totalscan is XID capable so the HDS should automatically detect it and set the correct transducer model. If not, go into the sonar installation menu and select Totalscan as the transducer type. You can keep your current 2D transducer connected to the HDS but can only use one transducer at a time. If you select your current 2D transducer as the transducer type in the sonar installation menu, it will disable all functions of the Totalscan including down and side imaging. Works both ways, selecting the Totalscan as the transducer type will disable your current 2D transducer. Where did you mount the Totalscan? Will it be in the water while your on plane to provide 2D readings?

I have heard it's better to go thru the lss box for a better image?

Interesting, If that is the case, then the LSS module will treat it as an LSS transducer. You will lose the 2D sonar function of it but your current transducer should still function. I am curious to hear how the DS/SS image of the Totalscan compares to the LSS transducer.

Just purchased a new 2017 Skeeter ZX200 with standard set up Elite 7TI at the console and bow. It has the side/downscan transducer on the stern, and supposedly another transducer in the hull for depth readings while on plane. The problem is I am not getting a depth reading once I get on plane. Additionally, the bow mount does not give side/downscan readouts at any time. Did they forget to hook something up or am I missing something in my settings? Thanks!

Once you get on plane you are getting air between the "shoot through the hull ducer" and the water. If you're losing the bottom over 50mph then that's fairly normal. If you lose it at 20mph then the ducer is not installed correctly.

The front graph has how many transducers? If it just has 1 external it might be a hdi, which gives down & 2d only. If you're plugged into the us2 ducer from the minnkota, then it's 2d only. If it's the totalscan ducer (big long sucker) then you have it on the wrong setting.

The depth reading drops off as soon as I'm on plane (around 20), so I guess I'll see if the dealer can fix that.

As I understand it, the front unit is hooked up to the Minn-Kota for sonar, but should work with the Totalscan transducer when using side/down image. Screen stays mostly blank if I try to use it that way.
Don't know if it is connected by cable or if its supposed to work through Bluetooth. Either way, its confusing.

So do you have a totalscan on the trolling motor too? Or is the totalscan on the transom? If you have the totalscan on the trolling motor then you need to ONLY use it. If you have the totalscan on the transom then you cannot share its si/di because there are no Ethernet ports on the elite models. Your dealership sounds like they are idiots or you are not understanding what they said??? I think you might be confused, check what transducers you really have and where they are, then report back. You can't have 2 2d sonar ducers working on 1 graph.

Put it this way, if you have a totalscan on the jackplate/transom then that is your issue with losing bottom on plane. It is designed for slow boats, idling & trolling motors. You can't have it and a shoot thru hull working at the same time.

Totalscan is only on the transom. If that won't work with the front graph, its more likely that I heard what I wanted to hear rather than what I was told. I'll be taking the boat back for some warranty items in a few weeks, so I'll see if they can explain it all better. I've read the installation manual, the quickstart quide, and the operating manual, and also checked out the youtube videos, but none of them really explains it very well. I appreciate your response.

I added a line to my comment above that you didnt see, read that line and ask them what they can do to solve your issue.
