Bait caster for me. MH Dobyns 734 rod for me with 10--12 lb. McCoys Mean Green copolymer. WORKS GREAT OVER AND AROUND GRASS. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck. OH, a secret that is NOT so secret anymore, add a nail weight to one side of the bait to get a faster sink and more fish in the boat. Not all the time, but if it is windy or the fish are finicky. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I do spinning. Braid to floro leader to cut down on the crazy amount of line twist. With spinning tackle, if you'll close your bail manually instead of just reeling, line twist is cut down to a tiny amount, in my experience.

Never thought of heat shrink thanks Not a problem Justmike, it is quite durable and really makes the soft plastic last...plus it is a lot more cost effective than the O-rings and doesn't require a special tool...just some scissors,plyers,knife,etc...to cut the tubing and then a heat source to shrink it. I use 1/4" heat-shrink tubing cut into 1/4" lengths, but I never have heated them....I just use 'em "cold.".

Wacky rigging, I have to admit to sometimes using baitcasting gear with a weedless sproat hook and either a 10.5" Yum Mighty Worm or Gambler ER16 16" Worm. Never caught anything bigger than 4 lbs on them. Not a finesse technique, but it works.....well.

If you are going to heat them up, you just need a simple bic lighter, and just move the flame under the tubing. Don't let the flame touch it, but just letting the heat shrink the tube till it has a good grip on the bait. This way the tubing will conform to the profile of the bait and wont be loose fitting.
