YouTube makes them easy to repair even for scoundrels. Replaced a water level switch yesterday on Kenmore Elite for $50. Wifey going back to Sears right now to cancel the new one she bought. The Kemore is 13 years old and way better than those low water energy savers she spent days looking over. Longtime appliance store friend confirmed the new stuff has lots of bugs and poor washing results. He doesn't sell them but confirmed SpeedQueen (the appliances) are the best.

We bought a speed queen couple yrs ago. Best washer we've ever owned and commercial quality as well.

Stay away from Samsung and LG. Whirlpool makes some decent ones. It's going to be hard to get 22 years out of a new unit. They all pretty much have " engineered life". There is less to be made only selling a unit that lasts 20+ years.

If you take some apart and look how they are constructed it's amazing the last more than a week.

Very happy with our LG top loader and dryer. Going on 5 years, works great, quiet, good controls. Stay away from Front loaders they stink from mildew and leak. The new technology is much better on not beating the carp out of your clothes. Use much less water. Both daughters bought Samsungs and both had to have the recall work done on them. One just took the cash out and bought an LG.

I guess my front load washer gets used so much the water does not have time to start stinking. I love, love, love it. I am petite so it is easier for me to load and unload. Top load washer have me standing on my head trying to get clothes out of it. It also spins the clothes drier. Top load machines really need two dryers to keep up with the washer. My front load machine spins them so dry it keeps up with the clothes washer. They are dry and ready for the next load when the washer is through washing them.

They say they use less water which I am all for. I never saw a significant drop in my water bill, but then I had a teen who showered 4 or 5 times a day.

Go buy another Whilpool, pretty sure they are American made. The new house we have has all Whirlpool, stove Micorowave, oven etc and they all had Made In Amercia stickers.

I would bet the Washer/Dryer would be too. Pretty sure they are made in FT Smith Ark.

Thanks, Billy

We've had the Whirpool Cabrio top load washer and matching dryer for 12 years. The only problems to date, the motherboard was replaced under warranty. It's huge, no problems washing a bed spread, blankets etc.

Some folks mouths, flat out runs their minds.
