I live within a mile of the ramp at Casino Beach and fish the lake often. It is a great sleeper lake which does have fish over 10 pounds. As far as the "Do not eat fish" thing, I followed a TPW shock boat one day and they told me the problems were found in the rough fish "bottom feeders". Nothing found in crappie and very little in largemouth and sand bass.

My understanding is that Lake Worth has a consumption "advisory" meaning it's legal to keep fish but it is advisable not to eat them due to PCB and other contaminants. I believe a consumption "ban" means it is illegal to take fish out of the lake. Maybe a fine-line difference, but a difference.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

There's a B-36 in there for one thing...

I believe I heard on the news last year that the consumption ban might be lifted sometime in 2010. As for now, I wouldn't consume any species of fish on Lake Worth.

I meant to type consumption advisory, not consumption ban.
