It's not illegal to charge $200 for eye drops. If you don't like that, then do without. It's called capitalism.
Be glad it's not something you can't live without, then it would be much higher. I just saw this idiotic response. My point is there have been acceptable treatments for pink eye for years. Why not prescribe that. I don't give a damn about the 200. With insurance it's 25 bucks. My point is why is a doctor prescribing the 200 dollar script when I'm sure there is a 20 buck deal available. That's all. I'm all about being a capitalist, that said there should be some transparency in a free market, this feels a lot like collusion. It sounds like the problem is with your Dr, not the pharmacy , no ? Lol, what clued you in on this? I haven't griped about the pharmacy once, my question are doctors compensated in some way for prescribing the latest and greatest stuff. Pharmaceutical reps are contstantly at their offices, I can't tell you over the years how many times we catered doctors offices with reps paying. Literally weekly in every market. But beyond the free lunch there is clearly an incentive for doctors to prescribe one thing over another.

One morning a few years back, we saw a tremendous uptick in Prescriptions for a certain antibiotic. ( brand name , no generic available) By 11 am, we were sold out. I called a nurse in one of the local clinics, asked what's up. Her response was that the rep for that particular drug showed up that morning with donuts and a very short skirt.
very effective sales technique,
Mo

I dealt with pharmaceutical reps for years. Very few were hard on the eyes.
