I must say Alex makes one fine bait - the quality is unmatched. But being retired, to save a little $ & give me something to do when I can't fish, I started making my own. I use a swim jig head with a Mustad Black Nickel hook, bubbling blade, Owner split rings/snaps & StarFlash skirts for about $2.15 each. To be fair, my overhead is free, these are one color painted heads in only 3 colors & do not come close to the detail in Alex's baits. But they do catch fish & keep me out of trouble...

I like the Chatterbait Elites and the D&M Custom Baits Piranha, but after reading all the comments I'm gonna give the Finch Nasty's a try!

As long as the blade attachment doesn't match z man it can remain on the market. Phenix changed their connection slightly

Thank you, sir. I truly appreciate your compliments and appreciation for my baits. I started out making them just like you are doing and it turned into a great opportunity where I'm able to help a lot of people enjoy their time on the water. There are a lot of factors that unfortunately drive the price up that I didn't have to deal with when I built them for personal use. I didn't really understand it all when I started selling them out of my garage four years ago (times have changed a little ). I thought I could help guys save a few bucks and get a better quality product (components-wise) than what was produced by large manufacturers. I think I'm still accomplishing that, as most of the products mentioned in this thread retail for $6.99 (C-bait Elite) - $8.99 (Shock Blade), and we're going to be around $5 with a free LFT trailer (and other items for qualifying purchases) at the Fun N' Sun show this weekend.

There's also a list of dealers on my website and you might be able to pick them up in person if the store you go to has a sale. Monte and his team keep Fun N' Sun stocked up pretty well throughout the year and they have discounts on tackle regularly.
