2 Man limit within half an hour in Waterloo Park in Denison late afternoon yesterday. Between my buddy and I, we caught more than 30 in an hour and a half of fishing. I used a brass/gold super duper and caught 3 on the fist 5 minutes when we got there. Then I missed a lot of bites. We then changed to Berkley PowerBait Floating Trout Worm in bubblegum color. Wacky rigged it with a split shot 18" above it. Then it was a non-stop bite with a catch on every cast. Sometimes they hit the worm as soon as it hit the water. Lots of fun!!!

I've only been able to snag 2 so far in 3 trips. Use various color in line spinners, silver and gold super duper, all 1/16oz. I try different retrieves, and tried those little colored trout nuggets and nothing.
What's the secret? I've seen guys fish for an hour with no success, then catch 1 or 2 like I have, then nothing. The damn comerant birds do a lot better that's for sure.

T-Rey we went Sunday, started with an inline spinner like you, cast about 20 times with no hits. Put on a pink power worm wacky rigged on a dropshot about 6" from the bottom and could catch em as fast as you can put the pole in the water. I've found that on moving baits, if you don't get a bite within 10-20 casts, switch. There's no real rhyme or reason to it, they just want a specific thing that day. For bait, 6" above the bottom gets 5x as many bites as fishing on the bottom, at least for me.
(And if you use the power worms vs. the nuggets or dough you won't gut hook them either, which will avoid scrutiny from captain awesome above)

So no jig head at worm, just small J hook in the middle of it, and small split shot up the line?
2" or 3" worm?
Slow or medium retrieve?

I use a #6 bare hook tied with a Palomar knot about 6" above the end of the line. On the end of the line I use a barrel sinker usually 1/16 oz maybe 1/8 if it's windy. I wacky rig the power worm, whatever size they come out of the package, I'd say closer to 2". A couple of times, the worm would get bit in half and I tried to use the half and didn't get any bites. Cast it out, let it sink to the bottom, tighten up your line so there isn't much slack with your rod tip up(this is where you need to find the weight of the sinker that works) and sloooowly drag it. The sinker will get caught up in some of the slime at the bottom of the ponds and when it does, gently shake the rod tip, the worm will be stationary but wiggling around. If no bites for 10-20 seconds, pull it loose and gently drag it to the next spot it gets hung up. you will find the spot in the pond or depth they seem to be feeding at pretty quick.

FYI: Upcoming events that may of interest for those in the North Texas area fishing for stocker trout... Post. Had issues with slow downloads for mobile smartphones. Made some changes, seems to work better, save for when the GoogleBots start doing their thing. Here is another post that should run better along with the upcoming events post.... Variation of the Near Deere pattern where we use the marabou plume used for the tail to make the body. Replaces the chenille. Black Near Deere Variant.

Saw a guy at Waterloo using a tailless Near Deere and it was killing the trout. He used a sparkle green body and brown hackle. He also had a small red spot of thread right behind the small jig head.

We went Saturday to Palmetto State Park, There was a lot of people going through the monition of fishing. We 1st started off using yellow Gullop bait. Caught a few, they stopped. So I saw a guy using can corn. So I looked on the ground and some corn. Heck I picked it up and put on my hook and started SLAMMING them on corn. All of us limited out. Everyone there was just watching us shaking there heads. Oh well. We was using lite tackle and line. Some had salt water rigs with BIG weights on. I didn't say anything. So yea we will be back.
