This question may have been answered before. Just can't find the answer. I have a Lowrance Elite -7 HDI. The down scan is not working. The screen is 95% black with a line of another color at the top. Would the High Definition Transducer be broken? My GPS works and the regular sonar works correctly. Anyone have a suggestion? My thoughts, power shortage or broken transducer??? I added a picture. It looks like a line around 15 feet but i could not see that. I think it is a shadow. Just the red / pink line at the top of graph. Thank you for your help.

Ok guys need a little education. I currently have a Gen 1 HDS 5 and Gen 1 HDS8 with structure scan (LSS1) on the boat. I got a XI5 Motor guide so I'm looking to upgrade to an HDS gen 3 unit to link them. Looking at 9 or 12 depending on the price I find. When looking at the gen 3 units, I see them listed with structure scan (is it internal now?) and I see them listed as bundles with a 3D hub (looks like an LSS1 or 2). From what I can gather, the 3D thing offers 3D mapping which I do not really think I need, so is the bundle necessary? Is there any other benefit to it? Thanks.

Structure scan technology is now included in all GEN2 and GEN3 touch units. These units can run the LSS2 transducer which gives you side and down scan. The 3D Structure scan is an add on item and gives you enhanced side and down scan plus 3D view. It required a separate module and special 3D transducer. If you don't think you will use the 3D, the go with a bundle that has the GEN3 and LSS2 combination. Prices have fallen greatly on these GEN3 units. If I can be of assistance on a price quote or provide any other information, please let me know.

Brian brian@bbgmarine.com If you do get the 3D, do you still need the LSS2 for side and down scan, or does it replace the LSS2?

Brian Thank you, I've also heard that the imaging is better with the 3D structure, is that true.

???? This may be silly ,,,,, BUT
DO YOU NEED A TRANSDUCER FOR THE GPS CHART OPTION TO WORK ON A HDI--7 ?
I am wanting to mount a second graph just for GPS mapping on a lake,,,, to load a boat lanes chip to run with.
