This is my opinion.

I agree. The sky is falling cause not many can adapt. Chances are if there was a survey out there it would show we suck at fishing. If people can't go down a bank catching 5 lbers in every tree the lake sucks. They are still there. I have had one bag over 18 lbs this year cause I can't fish haha.

Problem is they can't survey fish that are 40' deep

Got one Friday myself. My dumbarse left my wallet in the truck. This thread definately had some good opinions and went off track like I suspected it would. Guess we will find out in a month or two.

There have been very few good opinions expressed. Held the clowns posting on this topic haven't been on the lake twice in their life. Typical buffoonery.

I've been on the lake 12 times this year. Imo it's healthy. I have yet to have a day I didn't boat 15-20 fish, with the average bag being 15-18lbs. I've had two 19lb bags. But I'm also fishing 35-45 foot deep. Find me another lake that can do that this time of year in north texas. The lake is fine. If you're a bank beater then you're going to struggle right now.

I took that into account when I read who responded. Some decent opinions here and there though! popcorn2

We win more than most, we fist deep, shallow whatever. Last year 15-18 would not be worth weighing in. We had a 6 week stretch we were north of 22 every week. And by the way we have a 23.5 bank beating to this year lol. The lake is fd up, [censored] bags are cashing checks and winning this year, it's obvious to regulars at the weigh in lines.

Wasn't saying the 15-18 was anything special. Had my first and only 30lb bag last year there. 32.43. I'm saying people act like you can't get bit. The fish are there, just the big ones aren't where they normally are yet.

Last year they were up in October, we as well as killer and Pete ripped them down south. In October ! Temps aren't that far apart and it's damn near January. They are not coming up ause the big ones are not there. I'm not talking about 3 lb knot heads, I'm talking about the grown ones. You ant find a 5 lb fish at weigh in to speak of.

I hope I'm wrong and the bigger fish are just smarter or haven't come out of a 100 ft yet. All I know is we as a whole have killed a lot of good fish over the last year due to not giving a chit. Hell a boat weighed in a big bag and when his big fish had been dead for awhile replied"it happens". Which is true if you don't bother taking care of them. I cleaned 23 fish a few weeks ago and that was a drop in the bucket.

They are dead. It's obvious. Next year 15 will be winning.

Climer told me it's easy pickings out west.

I would like to know who the guy at the ramp is that told him he was welcome to come donate to the locals and he did not stand a chance at Squaw, when he said he was fishing one of the jackpots over there a month or so ago. I think they won 3 or 4 in a row of that "local's" tournaments.

Let me tell you if you are reading this, your arrogance towards him and Tony made my ole buddy chuckle laugh

In all honesty, wouldn't every lake be better off without tournaments?

I don't have a clue about what's going on out there this year because I usually suck on that lake, but I used to always catch some pretty big fish before it closed on a tank dam where the top of the dam is 19 ft. deep. Since it's opened back up I haven't caught a single fish on that tank dam. Not even a small one. hmmm

It is a private lake, I asked the person working there last trip. She said since the TPWD stocked it they regulate it. I would think if one had the time/money to spend on a lawyer and fight a ticket then it would go away.

TWPD has it listed as a public lake subject to statewide regulations with Luminant Power being the Reservoir Controlling Authority.

It's a double edged sword though isn't it?

You have to admit tournaments have helped propell the sport of black bass ( largemouth ) fishing to a whole new level.

Not only the knowledge and lures now available to the general public, but the conservation now established.

Face it.. Admit it, before tournaments "Catch and Release" was not only NOT POPULAR...it was practically unheard of!

Squaw will bounce back... And there are a ton of fish there, it just takes a little adjusting by the fisherman. It's still the only lake I've caught over 100 lbs. of bass in 4 hours just launching from the boat ramp in a tube float. (Fork was good, but a far cry, with maybe 50 lbs.)
