For the helix with gps/mega imagining do they make a unit capable of doing both DI and SI or is it either/or?

Only 9,10,12 g2 si units will have the mega. Those units will produce mega imaging with both si and di. So yes they will do both but there will not be a dedicated Di mega unit.

I just looked at the Universal Mania website. They have the Helix 12 Chirp SI for $1519. That's the best price I've seen yet and unless you are holding out for a Mega, this is a heck of a deal. I'm thinking that after New Years, the online retailers are going to be purging old inventory and getting ready for the new products, so when you factor in no tax and free shipping, that's going to be hard to beat. Right now, all of the retailers are selling the Helix 10 Mega for full MSRP and as long as the demand is there, they are going to keep milking that. I'm thinking we may not see discount pricing on any of the Megas for at least a year. If you are looking at Cabelas or BPS, you'll probably never see it.

That Helix 12 CHIRP SI GPS is the KVD bling version. A lot of dealers have been purging the KVD models from their inventory. Last I saw was the Helix 9 series will be the only ones continuing with the KVD bling.

I think most authorized retailers are contractually obligated to sell new unuts at MSRP for a period of time. I could be wrong.

I'm just saying that the KVD version is still out there at good prices with the only difference being the red button on the front. I guess a guy could pay $2299 for one if he was so inspired.

The MRP "manufacture retail pricing or manufactured recommended pricing" on the KVD has been removed on the 10 and 12 KVD model. The "MRP" continues on the 9 KVD. The KVD will only be on the Helix 9 going into 2017. The KVD 10 and 12 have been discontinued. This is why the MRP has been removed on those models and pricing has been so low.

I've got a 10 mega on the way - want to mount transducer on the jackplate but can't find any image of the transducer to see what it looks like and don't see a transducer saver anywhere for that model transducer-
Anyone mount it on the jackplate?
Help appreciated

I was told by Transducer Shield and Saver that they will have a mount for it around the middle of January. I'm on their list to be notified and when it's available, I'll post it here. For a jack plate mount, you are going to want to mount it on a hole-shot plate so that you don't pick up shadowing from the opposite side of the jack plate. Bob's makes a hole shot plate and probably other manufacturers do also. If you can't find one commercially, it would be easy enough to fabricate one out of some 1/8" aluminum plate. The main thing is that you want it centered under the jack plate with nothing obstructing the side imaging beams.

Thanks - I have an HDS 8 side scan mounted to the jackplate now on a transducer saver L bracket and shield - so that it is below the plate - should work the same I would think.

I'd like to see the full version of that photo showing the position in relation to the lower unit and prop.

If I have the H12 chirp, could I swap out to the mega transduce and get a better SI or DI image?
