An indicator of the crappie spawn that I have observed here on Lake Conroe is when the pollen on the surface water is visible. When I see that, I hit my favorite crappie shallows with minnows and it pays off big time. I also keep check on the shoreline water temps behind my home looking for 56 to 58 degree temps.

Thanks for all the info. It's what I look forward to every yr bc I don't have a boat. Just curious about the moon response. What are you looking for there.

Last years rain pretty much jacked up the spawn in our area of centx , there's no for sure way to know full spawn with our weather without being there fishing to find out. Yeah its funny how this same subject comes up around this time every year lol. I have a chart I made a few years back with temps, depths, FOW, and time of year for a few lakes I will post when I get back to TX.

Thx Kooby...been bank/yak fishing for slabs a long time and still dont have me figured out! I watch water temps etc, but biological indicators seem to be more consistent. Like the old timers still say, when the redbuds are blooming the fish are shallow! Seems pretty accurate to me. And of course a good rain!
