I just can't make up my mind. Is the chirp worth getting? I can get a Helix 12 SI for the same price as a helix 10 Mega with chirp. Is the chirp really gonna make a difference is my question.

The helix 12 si should have chirp on the 2d sonar. The mega has di and si with dedicated crystals in the transducer and different frequency than just the normal helix. The mega is going to give better di and si pictures. Search for helix mega screen shots and you'll see.
For me, I'd take mega 10 over a 12

The new mega units will also chirp the SI and Di frequencies as well. Personally I don't use chirp that much. A really good Di is better than chirp for my type of fishing which is striper/hybrids sand bass and catfish. With the new mega you get it all in one. Dedicated down imaging along with chirp Di,SI and 2d.

I was hoping to see more replies to the "Helix 12 SI or a Helix 10 Mega"? Haven't released yet. The 9,10 release this month but no set date. The 12 is next month. After the 9,10 start shipping then the reviews will start coming in The 10"s are finally available and shipping

If you are looking seriously at the Helix 10, I would wait for the G2 with CHIRP and Mega-Imaging. The difference between screen image quality between my Helix 12 CHIRP SI and my 1199 is amazing. It's so good I'm looking at replacing the 1199 with the Mega-imaging unit when it hits the streets.
The release date for the 10 was supposed to be the 16th, but like everyone else with new products, they are late with that too.

Think I'm just gonna buy the helix 10 for 1149 and fish If you are going to do that and don't care about the CHIRP or Mega-Imaging, I would look for an 1199 on closeout or from someone who is selling to upgrade. The screen size is the same and you'll save some $$$.

Most of the Helix units released on the 16th went out to all of the orders placed at either ICAST or at the distributors Dealer shows. Another batch/order should arrive soon.
