Thank you. Smile is still on my face! Anyone who has fished Tenkara truely understands how amazing this catch was for me. I've had many memorable fish days on conventional gear. This rivals them all based on the fish vs gear dynamic!

Fishwfly,

Brad in Athens here on this end and I wanted to mention that I went out with ultralight tackle yesterday to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries where we met for me to pick up the rod a few weeks ago, and I caught about 20 or so trout. Not a nibble from a bluegill or bass but the trout seemed hungry.

I used 2 lbs. test on a 1000 series Ci4+ reel and threw a 1/32 oz. hair jig, black body/ white eyes/chartreuse hair. I didn't make many casts without getting at least nibbled.

Yesterday would have been a good day for your Tenkara, I suspect. The best place was over on the deck behind the smaller pond back behind the larger pond.

Lots of fun. Gonna have to buy a Tenkara as it would have excelled I suppose.

Brad

Thanks for the info Brad! Flying Fox, I was using a green pheasant colored double bead head barbless Kebari style fly with black hackle.

Fished today and the black killer bugger slightly weighted was the ticket. Caught many including this hybrid and carp. Rod of choice today was the new TenkaraBum 40. I was fishing a 5m Tenkara straight line with about 2 feet of 5x tippet.
