I shock my dog for whining like a little beach. He only barks for a reason so i don't shock him for that.

When I lived in town (Port Neches) about 20 years ago our neighbor's dog barked loudly incessantly day and night. I told them a polite neighbor would fix that karp. I then gave them an ad out of a BPS catalogue for a bark collar. They proved themselves polite.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

I've got a cabelas GS-4000 gun dog series collar..cost is $159.00...works great for me and my English cocker retriever...got a buddy that also has one he uses on his lab and he's pleased as well... keep in mind that you don't have to electrocute your dog...I use mine on the #4 setting and that's about like giving him a slap on the rear....but.....it works just like a spanking works for a child.....it lets the dog know when you say no...if he doesn't stop what he is doing,a spanking is instantly gonna happen....my present dog is a year old and this is her first season so she is learning and typical of a young dog,she forgets every now and then but she is getting to the point where all I have to do is hit the pre-shock sound and she obeys.....my previous dog,I never had to use the collar after the first season but she was hard headed the first year and I had to pop her several times over a 3 month period....

Why would anybody get a gun dog collar for a lap dog?

35 lb retriever is a little large for a lapdog....and stop her from barking or retrieving someone else's doves....as someone mentioned, training collars make excellent hearing aids....
