The Game we always play in Spring! Was gettin' pumped to the the Yak ready for Sunday. This am at 7:30 it is still dark as midnight. Went to my NOAA weather page that had Sunday as 75 w/ no wind or rain. Guess what, now Sunday is Heavy Rain and wind, so there.

Deep, where were y'all fishin'? On the East or West side of the boat ramp? Might be time to do the Heavy BKG thing and get a tube so you can get up get in and get out in a hurry.

Tubes, any comments?

Thanks and Gig'em, Mark Fairchild

I think your best bet is going to be the three and four day "GOOD" weather spurts for the shallow water fish. I know the last few years have been pretty predictable with the storms blowing through every other week, so look for those three and four day periods that offer the warmest nights with the least cloudy days and hit 'em hard on the last day or two before the weather turns again. That's what happened last week and the week before.Just hang in there and go as often as possible, that's what I do. And if someone says you can't go because of the wind, be sure and ask 'em if they live in WEST Texas.? I guess they never go.LOL!!!Did fair over the weekend, 10 on the north bank Sat. morning in about 4-6' of water on black/orange and orange/chart. Two were real hosses, 15" and 16", rest were 12-13" and very healthy.

God willin', I'm fishin.

Darn and Double Darn! Hit JBT this am, Sunday. Skunk Ola! Zip, Zero, Nada. Did not see a sole catchin' fish, well two bass on Road Runner just as we got there. After that, nuttin' honey! Figured the heat Saturday would drive up shallow. Reading above by the infamous BKG indicates that ain't necessairly so.

Best place I've found is in the sticks in Warden's Cove. Saw lot's of slabs pulled out of there a week ago. I will update the map as soon as I get more info from you guys. Keep on hookin' em!

Ketch: Was they a wadin' or a floatin'? My stinkin' knees being what they are (or more exactly are not) I am thinkin' on a float. JBT gets me with generally one of two extremes, mud so thick it pulls my shoes off or rocks so sharp and scattered that I fall down (and subsequently cannot get up).

Went out to JBT yesterday didn't have much luck. Caught a few out by the island in some brush but nothing worth bragging about.
The only good thing about yesterday was seeing that the lake was on the rise. The rain we had last week seems to be helping, and hopefully we will get some more, would love to see the lake come up alot.

Yeah the rain has been great for the water levels. It looks like we may be headed to one of the 3 or 4 day warm weather spirts that Heavy was talking about. Cant wait until BKG has a positive fishing report for all of us. I am dying for some fast action fishin!

Was out at Thomas on Tuesday the 27th and managed only 13. They were all quality fish with the smallest being 12 inches and the biggest being just over 16 inches. It was an all day affair, as I fished from 9 am until 6 pm (spent a good deal of that time scouting and even had time to catch a mess of cats). Caught my first slab at 2:30 pm and caught the last one at 6 pm. They are not shallow in numbers as of yet. I caught all my fish in exactly 4 foot of water and saw many others caught in just about any stickup from Rocky Point to the dam. Two more weeks of uninterrupted of warm weather, and easy limits should be taken all over the lake. I did have the pleasure of sort of meeting heavy BKG as he was unloading somewhere about 5 pm. Good luck everyone. The best is yet to come.

Okay, so I was at JB on tuesday and again today. Both were great days, Tuesday was kinda slow till I moved from the south side to the north side at about 7pm, I ended up with 4 BIG crappie and an EXTRA BIG LMB, and right after I caught the "Lunker", I got out.Today, I fished for about 2 hours and caught 6 (all were 14" and better) in about 5 foot of water around stickups. There were a lot of people out this afternoon and the fish are still not quite right up in the shallows.Saw Sandwich Maker and some other well known crappiehounds and didn't get the feeling anyone was setting the house on fire. Hang in there , it can only get better!!!

God willin', I'm fishin.

Anyone think today would be any good? I sure have the itch to hitch the boat and head that direction.

Well Sunday was not a good crappie day. I fished for about 4 hrs and not one single cropy. I did catch a few cats when I was not trying 2. It was a nice day to be out and the lake looks to have caught some much needed water. All of the Ponds and the puddles around the lake are full. Does anyone know when the whites really start moving?

WHEW!!! Did I just eat or what??? The last two days have been identical @ JBT. 5 crappie and one Big LMB both days. If now is not the time to catch some good fish, then I don't know when! I can't recall catching so many male and female fish in the 14 to 16 inch range in any other year. I know the numbers aren't great, but who cares when 5 crappie are over 10 lbs. and you catch LMBs up to 8 lbs. a day. All I can say is get to the stickups in 4-5' of water and fish it. I won't be back out there till Fri. or Sat. and I'm looking forward to it already.Good Luck!!! Oh, big_cat, the whites start around the first of May and usually last till mid June.

God willin', I'm fishin.

Heavy, question and comment:

1. Stick ups on North or South?

2. Easter Cold front, still fishin'?
