It is a new year and time to show these folks what the best pink crappie lake in the state, or anywhere, can do. All us blow sand fanatics need to be ready to 'hit the water' in Spring of '07 and post those fabulous results. Today would not be that day, high of 27 and OC is not my idea of prime JBT crappie weather, but who knows, Heavy BKG might be floatin' around out there. Hope everyone does great this year!

I'll say its an early start to this year's post. Have about an inch of ice all over everything here in my part of WTX today. Got to get just a we bit warmer to float around and chase crappie for me.

Aw come guys, this is great Crappie Weather!! Wish I had a way to post pics, so I could back it up. Went with some of the Ackerly Crew this morn. and 21 were put in the bucket. NICE crappie, not really that deep, 12' right below the "stick-ups"-Chevron" knows the spot.

I think I will stick with quail hunting until it warms up a little more. Looking forward to a great 2007. The lake levels are back to where it should be easier to get on the fish.

Just wondering if the Crappie were biting yet. Got a bad itch to go find out this weekend.

Yes, they are BITING! At safety meeting on Friday (don't ya just hate those!) one of our foreman has been and is catching SLABS in 12-15' around the Big Island. So lets go!

Haven't been here lately but I'm surprised that ANY Crappie fisherman wouldn't like cold temps. Weather sounds good to me. Perfect for a fast limit. I wish more East Texas folks where like you. It's been tough getting on my spot due to all the boats on Lake 'O the Pines. Temps, clouds, or wind won't keep us away,,,, however ice might do it. Last Saturday (20 degrees on the water) I left my boat in the water and had to break ice to free it. Over 75 boats fished the area that day. Most had limits by noon. If your ever over my way bring a bunch of clothes and give me a yell. I bet I can change the way you feel about "perfect weather". LOL. Don

Nut: Not the old store, they tore that down, the new store on the Snyder Highway. It was open a least a couple of weeks ago when we went by.

Is the boat ramp still useable or have they moved back to the temp one to the west yet?

Lookin' good for Saturday, 3/17/07, wind from south at 5 mph and high of 75. Could crappie be in our future? Anybody been?
